OK this is a real strange night. Another new NAC code!
Hearing transmissions on 172.500 NAC 369
Pretty weak but there was just a male transmitting in the clear and the reply I think was encrypted or too weak to decode

Some nice catches Bob! have you picked up anything else in the last few days or have any idea who is using these? looks like multiple transmitters with same nac, i guess alot of federal agencies set these up like that.

Nope nothing new of significance Brian. No ideas yet on who is using them. I think the weather in the past couple of days put a damper on any federal activity, pun intended. They seem not to want to do any extended ops outside unless they have to.
And the propagation decline with the storm caused my reception to deteriorate somewhat. But spring is close and I am warming up the radios for some more good catches.

Sounds like it may be Fire Island. They were having some radio issues, might have gone to a backup repeater or put a new one up.

If in Baltimore yup it's ICE

But then again, it all depends on the Actual Frequency.

Some of the Large Agencies seem to use the same NAC [input and output]
FBI, DEA, ATF, CBP

Then others see to use [especially for the wide area networks] different NACs for each Repeater output and One input NAC.

What about the NAC of 92. Any ideas? I have the freq listed as Customs.

065 - also USF&W

As a reminder, anyone can make edits to the wiki's.
Just register, and take some time to practice.

Not every post to the list gets ported over, but the wiki is for the sharing of the info ....;)

I just started listening to these bands and am beginning to pick up some activity. I heard some quick transmissions at 408.6125 nac: 234. Any ideas what this could be?

That freq is usually associated with the FBoP.
You caught it while searching in Conventional Mode.

Altho the RR DB doesn't show it as part of one of the two FBoP systems in Miami, it likely is one of the systems that has been upgraded recently [past 1-2 yrs] and not reported as yet.

Okay thanks for the quick reply,

i was wondering if there was a better way to search for them then to just use a limit search in Fm mode?

Searching, is the best to discover new frequencies, unless you decide to load each and every possible Federal Freq [SofaKing had a file out there]

Bands to Search would be
138-144
148-150.8
162-162.3750
162.5750 - 174.0000
380-400
400-420 [yes, go down to 400, some say 406, but I have found users]

Remember, for some of the 380/400 Trunked Systems you might find the Voice Channel, long before you find the CTRL Channel [seems the voice carries farther, since the CTRL is always running] and you might need to be closer to the site to actually grab them.

Go mobile ! Park down the Street at a Mall, Mc'D, Wendys etc

My last trip [last March] to Miami, my concentration was Cruise Ships and Feds, but mostly from the Cruiseport area, so I never tracked down the 400 Detention facilities.

Okay thanks for the quick reply,

i was wondering if there was a better way to search for them then to just use a limit search in Fm mode?

Don't limit yourself to FM. A lot of fed stuff (at least around here) is P25. Also, some might be P25 today and FM tomorrow and switch from time to time (true of FBI around the DC area). I've heard the morning shift as P25 then the evening shift (on the same detail watching the same guy) be FM.
