Finding Local Trunked System

I have a ski resort in my area that I am trying to hear communications from, but I have not had any luck. I am using a SDS100 and the resort is Sun Valley Resort in Ketchum Idaho.

They have Motorola handheld units that I can see their ski patrol and lift operators using, so my guess is some sort of Motorola trunked system. I have sat at the base of the mountain with close call on and I don't pick anything up. Today I tried running multiple conventional discoveries and still came up empty. I cannot find any frequency info on RR for the resort.

I also found a RR forum post from 2008 that references a Motorola system but that hasn't helped me:

I was in Sun Valley for a couple of days and there is a trunked system for Sun Valley with most operations for the mountain on it. So there have clearly been some changes. It is a motorola type II 800 system. ski patrol was heard operating on this system. There's no mention of in the RR database. Thought someone might know more about it. Thanks anyway.

Look through these Service Types and make sure the appropriate one is enabled.

Are you sure it is a Motorola Type II system? Do you have any frequency info other than just 800 MHz? That would help to search for systems with those frequencies.
Could it have been an 800 MHz P25 system?
Some older Motorola Type II Systems have been converted to newer types of systems (DMR, NXDN, P25)

How about this system? It has a site near Ketchum on Bald Mtn.

No information has been submitted to the RR databse for the Ski resort that I am aware of.

Service types are irrelevant if the info doesn't appear in the database as the OP stated...

I cannot find any frequency info on RR for the resort.

Looks like 2 four frequency sites.

There is also this Motorola DMR Connect Plus System for business use with a site in the Sun Valley area. Site 12 (935.1625 MHz, 936.1625 MHz, 937.1625 MHz) Looks like it might be the same as the listing in the post above for Sun Valley Co as some of the frequencies are the same.

Thank you for your reply and information. I am not sure it is a Motorola Type II system. I was just referencing that because I saw it on RR from another forum member. That was in 2008 though.

The system you linked on Bald Mtn belongs to Whitecloud Communication. They provide communications solutions to local businesses (I used to use them as a vendor at my previous business) but I am pretty certain the resort has their own communication shop.

Right. Do a search and look for any traffic/control channels. I do think it could be a DMR system though.

Seeing how it’s licensed for DMR that would be a reasonable guess.

Yes, my SDS100 has DMR unlocked. The links for WROQ531 and WQZV817 appear to be what I am looking for. I see MO (mountain operations) and FB (food and beverage). Unsure what the FXO is but that is a non issue at the moment.

Now I'm on to the task of trying to figure out how to load these into the scanner so I can hear the traffic. I'm still new to the SDS100 and so far all of my favorites lists have been pulled from their Sentinel software. If anyone has knowledge on this, please give me a shout. I'm happy to pay for your time.

Not quite, MO is mobile and FB is fixed station. Those are FCC station class designations.
