The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Fire alert on G5 pager not audible while in amplified charger

I have a G5 pager that I was issued by my fire department. It is programmed to alert for EMS tone outs, and for fire tone outs. The two alerts are different from each other. I purchased an amplified charger to use with my G5. At first, everything worked as it should. The problem now is, when the G5 is seated in the amp, and a call comes through, I hear the two-tone through the amp, but when the pager goes into its “alert” phase, it goes completely silent. At the end of the “alert” phase, the voice portion of the transmission is audible through the amp like normal.

When the G5 is off the amp, it operates and alerts normally, as it should.

Could this be a flaw with the amp?

Do you by chance have relay control enabled? Check the setting for TG List, and Sub Group List in tab E2 to see if one, or both are set up that way. The only thing I can think of is that instead of playing an audible alert, it's trying to send a signal to open a garage door, turn on lights, etc...

yes, I have enabled the relay control in the PPS software. It worked once before, when I first got the amp, but then all of a sudden stopped.

When an alert comes through, the alert light on the charger flashes, so i know it recognizes the relay activation, there’s just no sound.

Do you actually have it hooked up to something? If not, you should probably turn off all instances of relay control. Just for grins, double check alert settings in E11.

I have a strobe and bed vibrator connected to it. It started acting up before I connected those devices though. The light and vibrator also work normally.
