Why not go out and buy a used Unification pager or a Motorola Minitor 5?

Was wondering if there was an app or some kind of way to recieve notifications via phone or tablet ...of fires in my area. I know there are companies that charge upwards of 500 bucks to fire and smoke restoration companies . Companies like IPN, or 1st responder. But I'm wondering if there is any other way..like a free app something.

Join the fire department, I get them on my phone plus emails.

Does your fire service use paging, if so you can use a program called PDW to decode the info, then in settings, get the program to email or txt you
you do need a dedicated scanner to do this though
