I have a few objects that are optimized on original.

I'm one of those people that I didn't return this radio only because nxnd really worked well in the city I work in for police and fire but was still forced to carry one of the alternatives for the p25 simulcast system I live in.

With normal on global I was disappointed to see no improvement in the Bucks County single-site simulcast system with multiple Towers close together. Then I tried invert. It's a friggin miracle. No missed Transmissions, no scanning through complete conversations anymore. I hear Transmissions right from the first word every time and can hear short responses like "okay" using a system hold time of 2 seconds.

I don't have to carry two radios anymore especially since that alternative one pulled my pants down.

To answer the question of what the original option is, in the first few hours of release it was an option that was available in addition to normal invert Auto. It basically was a choice that if normal and invert worsened or weakened a system or Channel you could pick original bypassing the new filters and reverting back to the original set up in the radio on that particular system or Channel.

It is a critical option that we hope will be restored. There are many factors affecting the radio including RF environment different systems and other things that could make normal and invert not help. I have the original version and option and do use it on several objects where normal and invert weaken or compromise performance.

That option of original was removed with another update a few hours after initial release and a large chorus of users have been asking to have it restored.

Off means the filter is turned off completely. With the filter off, no need for "original".

Okay . . . I've just installed the new firmware. I changed the global filter setting to "off," and the excellent reception I've been enjoying with my favorite simulcast system seems to be unaffected.

However, I'm going to wait until I've had more sleep than I did last night before I start trying to tweak the filter settings on some of my analog systems.

Question: So far, the only filter-related setting I've found is the global filter setting mentioned above. How does one go about experimenting with filter settings for individual channels in the favorites list? I didn't see it in the new version of Sentinel, but I'm so tired right now, I'm pretty sure I'm not seeing everything.

Thank you Paul for listening about vhf and UHF... First production last 3 of serial 090 I can confirm works great on 850mhz and the VHF wipe is literally gone with 2 nearby pager towers, verizons 790mhz lte and fm translator. I Love Invert option for 850mhz and some vhf and invert for UHF.. Oh and Weather band is nolonger showing encrypted... I think 800 inverted could possibly use a bit more gain...

Also analog sounds much clearer and also receivig a NYSEG site I could never hear before..wich is only 230khz away from a very powerful pager..

I still have a question about the "Auto" setting.
Once the scanner detects whether Normal or Invert is the more appropriate filter, does it store it - so as to increase the scan rate?
If so, does a power cycle then clear that stored state?
If not, is that by design because in one location a Normal filter setting performs better than the Inverted, and vice versa - and always chooses one or the other as it scans?

In the favorites editor you need to select the system to find the filter setting.

Yeah, not sure. I thought set as auto, the scanner would make the call and use which ever filter setting was best.

However, I want to leave my primary trunked system unfiltered, and experiment with conventional systems. Should I move the global setting to inverted, for example, and move that trunked system to "off"?

Also, my primary listening environment is rural, with many signals being somewhat weak, so I don't think overload and intermod are my biggest issues. Is "inverted" mode a generally better place to start under these circumstances?
