A pic of the cyan screen would be nice.

And I also received a request for a pic of the back of the radio:

Hope this helps!

Thanks Marshall!

All good man. It is difficult to get a good shot of the keypad but that cyan pic gives you a little idea of how it is backlit. I might try to get another shot later when it is totally dark out.

Just One Curiosity Does the data port work any faster for programming the the prior 996
like say loading up 85% capacity all at once it was pretty slow nice thing about the Gre psr600
Very fast uploads.

Thanks Matt.

Although I agree the GRE "clone" from radio to radio is SUPER FAST

The Uniden has 300% the capacity of the GRE (in main memory / channels) so yes the 996T will be slower uploading 85% of the Unidens memory (still 280% of the GRE memory size).

The XT will now have 1300% memory of the GRE (main memory / channels) so be ready for an even longer wait.

My present 996 sounds a bit "tinny"...any comment on the sound quality from the 996xt. And how does the automatic AGC seem to be working with various channel reception. Trying to get as much info before upgrading from the 996t
Thanks

That is a difficult question to answer because what works great in my location may differ greatly in your neck of the woods.
I can say with 100% confidence that the BCD996xt with AGC
sounds great in North Carolina :D

It's $489.95 which includes shipping. It's not listed on their site but you can call and order one over the phone.

I still ordered online using the online form and just used the $489.95 price and entered the BCD996XT model number and it worked fine from Communications Electronics Inc-Emergency Operations Center - Emergency phone: +1-734-995-9000. I did give them a call last week and they said online or phone will work even if they don't show up on the list of scanners they have been taking pre-orders for the 996XT.

Did they you give you any idea when they might ship? I believe they told me next week, possibly Tuesday.

Thanks....especially info on the AGC...still a lot of conventional freq use in the eastern Mass Boston area and the AGC will keep me from turning up and down the volume
