I think their prices include the $30 shipping charge.
Right. Sorry for being so confusing. They definitely don't low-ball you. It's all up front. I love knowing the DELIVERED PRICE without having to go 99 percent through the check-out process just to find out. I find that maddening, and will just skip a seller who does that, like Universal-Radio.

I've bought from just about every scanner dealer out there in the last thirty-something years. Never had any problems with CEI. In fact, they have been very helpful both by phone and e-mail.

Usually, Hobby Radio has the best prices on most scanners. CEI just happened to have a sale deal on the 996xt right now, so I jumped on it.

Boy, did you nail it with here!! It burns me beyond words to have to jump thru such hoops just to find out whether I'm gonna get hosed on the shipping charges or not. Like you, I too pass on sellers who make it such a chore to simply find out how much shipping is going to cost. Right or wrong... I assume that they have something to hide with such tactics.

I don't mind paying a few bucks more if they would just make it simple for me to know my total price, including shipping. All I want to know is: (1) Is it in stock? (2) How long will it take you to actually ship? (3) What my final cost? If I amp forced to virtually place the order just to determine this; I'm outta there (with extreme prejudice).

Hi everyone...

I pick up my radio today, couple of questions anyone have a direct link PDF file of the user manual for some reason my disk I received with the radio is not working.

Also I want to display under the agency name the frequency and the tone on the second line I have now is NFM then the tone the old way to program that to display that data was putting the scanner on hold then pressing the function button then zero then doesn't work on this model anyone have a clue how to program that ?

Thanks

This works for both the 396xt and 996xt:

Hi,

On the 996T I have both the frequency and the ID: side by side on mode 2

I seem to have lost that function on the 996XT it only shows the id:

Right. A decision was made to go with the illustrated layout. When you are monitoring a trunked system the need to know the ID outweighs the need to know the actual frequency. If you really must know the frequency you can select mode one.

Ok this is odd, ever since I replaced my 996t with a 996xt, I've noticed a bad reception decline. I've tried everything from reprogramming and reloading and tweaking to no avail. It's my local p25 systems and the cities and county that have declined are less than 10 miles away. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

I'd check the antenna connector. I thought that the 996T had a good receiver, but the XT is much better. So, you either have an antenna or cable problem or a bad XT. Of course, I suppose it's possible that I had a bad 996T, but that was in fact better than the 796D that it replaced so I doubt.

I thought I had a bad 996xt, took it to my wholesaler and replaced it. I've tried 4 different antennas, and my outdoor antenna I've changed the bnc and even with the stock antenna I still have issues. I wonder if it's just the system/cities are are having problems here in Michigan, I can't imagine they are. They have been operating for some time now. Thanks tho.

I'm stumped.

Hello:

Does anyone have experience with getting ARC-XT Pro running on a BCD996-XT using a USB port?
Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Are you using the Uniden USB-1 cable or the serial cable with a USB to Serial adapter? In either case, the first thing to make sure of is that you installed the drivers. After that, the questions diverge.

Seriously? I haven't even gotten around to programming or hooking up the new 996XTs I got last week, but that would be sweet if they are hotter receivers than the 996Ts.
