.low pressure over eastern colorado today will move into southeast wyoming and the nebraska panhandle tonight...while a westward extension of the low rotates down across the four corners. This will bring widespread precipitation through saturday morning and the first significant snow accumulations to the high elevations. Snow levels will be high initially but drop tonight...when the greatest snow accumulations are anticipated. Rain or a mix of rain and snow are likely on the mid- slopes.
Hunters traveling into the high country should prepare for cold and wet conditions tonight through saturday.

The national weather service in grand junction has issued a winter storm warning for snow...which is in effect until noon mdt saturday.
* timing...through noon mdt saturday.
* snow accumulation...4 to 6 inches...mostly above timberline with
most of the accumulation occurring during the nighttime hours.
Lighter snow accumulations...or a mixture of wet snow or a cold
rain will occur between 9000 feet and timberline.
* snow level...near 10000 feet this afternoon lowering to between
8500 and 9000 feet tonight.
* visibility...1 mile or less in heavier snow showers and fog.
* impacts...travelers should take extra precautions as this is the
first appreciable snow of the season. Mountain passes and roads
will be icy...slushy and snowpacked during the nighttime hours
tonight. Hunters camping in the backcountry should be plan on
cold and wet conditions and dress appropriately. Temperatures
will range from the upper 20s through the 30s.
