To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

I am tring to flash upgrade an HT1250LS+ with the inofficial US waris lab upgrade tool to make it a standard HT1250 but I have run into a problem. I think its in the flash adaptor I made via pinout from BATLABS that could be the issue. I also use a SANDY rib and factory AARKN4074 program test cable that I have used without error from about 2000. It gives me an open bootcode error.
Has anyone used flash adaptor pinout and got it to work when doing a standard flash upgrade? One of the other guys lost the ribless cable so I cannot try that option. Any ideas???

The bootcode error is showing up in the tool? I think that your radio isn't getting bootstrapped. If you throw the boot control switch and turn the radio on and it does nothing (ie no display, no beeps, etc), it SHOULD be in bootstrap mode. The only difference the flash cable has to the standard programming cable, is the fact that the boot control pin (pin 25) is grounded.

I will try it again. I thought I had screwed up when there was no display and no function.

Thanks!

This is an old thread...however...you do NOT need to flash the radio if you're only changing codeplugs within the same model. IE, an HT1250LS into an HT1250, or HT750 into HT750LS.

As a nice teaser, it IS possible to get an HT1250LS+ that does 160 conventional and 160 trunked. Yep, 160 conventional instead of the standard 128 :D

flash

Man this is OLD !! I found the problem a broken wire in my flash adapter cable. The radio was an old firmware and when you Hack it and the firmware is old I have found you get an eeprom cs error. Update the firmware first then program the codeplug of your choice. I have done a lot of these now and most go good but a few will fail and are DOA forever. If it stops in the middle of the flash the radio will be dead ! I have had 2 out of 150-200 flashes that went DOA and both are CDM's. A ROM CS error can be fixed you just got to flash the firmware to fix it.

The HT1250 ,LS & LS+ the eeprom is to small to support 160ch. The GP680 should because the eeprom is larger but never had one to try yet. If I ever ran across one very cheap I may try it.

Ht1250

is there a flash switch someone on the radio or do you need to put it in progamming mode? I am trying to upgrade codeplug and the directions say the flash switch should be in the off position?

The switch is on the flash adapter. If you are not flashing it, you don't need the adapter, only the cables.

I've been beating my head off the wall trying to figure this out. I have a CDM1550 LS+ and an HT1250 LS+ I am trying to make them 'normal' CDM1550 and HT1250. What is the best way to approach this?

Any help would be great.

Thanks.

I hope people realize that you can dump in a new codeplug but by doing so you loose the tuning values. You will need to retune the radio.

I tried to cram another HT1250 codeplug in it but got a model mismatch error and it wouldn't go.

I know it's an old queston but anyway search does me no good :(
Where can I find the detailed manual on how to flash a Waris radio to another model, for example GP340 into GP380?
