Hello, I am wondering if there is anyone able and willing to stream FWFD at Least dispatch or is there a reason why it's not streaming? Or is there something like IPN but for free? I know we have DFW Scanner and other resources like that, but is there anything else?

It runs on a Project-25 Phase 2 system. Many scanners do not support that type of system yet. It’s not encrypted, so maybe someone will get it online sooner or later...

All of the Fort Worth FD talkgroups are P25 Phase I (note the Mode D in the database listing). Most of the Tarrant county users of the system also use Phase I talkgroups, the exceptions being Arlington & Grand Prairie, which operate as Phase II (Mode T). Johnson County, the NETCO cities, as well as Ellis County's Midlothian & Red Oak also operate as Phase I. Irving, in Dallas County, also is using Phase II. (Grand Prairie straddles the Dallas/Tarrant County line, but is mostly in Dallas County.)

There have been a couple of feed providers in the past for Fort Worth FD, but those members moved either out of the area, or too far out for good reception in order to run a feed. Also see this.

I know the issue with the last feed provider was his location, he was in between two simulcast towers and could never get the modulation issue resolved at his location.

Yeah, I forgot about that. But bottom line is that the last couple (if not more) people that tried to host a FWFD feed had to drop out for various issues.

I guess I have that issue and wish I knew how to resolve it! I cant get consistent performance from Northeast Tarrant (Site 3) and others on FWRR. I have broadcast before but did indeed drop it....

If I can actually slow down to figure it out I am going to attempt the raspberry pi deal. Just have to get the antennas and figure it out lol.

Theres several different options that people have found to work. Either using a stubby "racing" antenna, yagi directional antenna, paper clips, no antennas. You'll just have to try different things to see what will work for you.

There was a conversation about settings in uniden scanners. Do a search for it, it was talked about multiple times

I agree.

If you are really close to one individual site, 'no antenna' or a paper clip might work. The same with a stubby antenna such as the Comet, or other stubby antennas often used at auto races. Occasionally, attenuation will help.

For many, though, a yagi (directional0 antenna, aimed at a specific site, not necessarily the closest one, but one the farthest (in direction) from the other sites is the best option. You can use the RR database to indicate the location of the various sites of a simulcast system. If, for example, you had three sites to choose from, on to your northwest, one southwest, and a third, somewhat farther, to your east, aim toward the eastern one, as that is in a direction opposite of the other two. See FWRRS Layer 1 and Layer 2.

To piggyback on Steves reply. This is my set up on for a BCD996xt, that I have used for several years. I am geographically midway between two sites in NE Tarrant County. Low gain yagi is ceiling high, indoors and shielded from behind by a piece of sheet metal. Has worked flawlessly for me. Primarily monitoring FWFD and NRH, but anything on Layer 2 comes in crystal clear, with very few simulcast issues.
