My local police department has changed the radio frequency once again. I’ve not been able to find it if someone can help me. It’s Highland Park police dispatch. Tx

To add slightly to what Enforcer has already noted, HP's neighbors in the Park Cities, University Park & SMU, also moved to GMRS, with public safety TGIDs (Law, Fire, & EMS) all full time encrypted.

That's the case with most of the other cities on GMRS, public safety TGIDs encrypted. I don't monitor that system, since I cannot get a strong enough signal from home. Sunnyvale, Seagoville, & Terrell are also on GMRS, and, so far, still show as in the clear. But as I noted, I don't get good enough reception at home to add them to one of my scanners.

GMRS huh? That acronym can be a bit confusing. At first glance I was like "Why on Earth would they be utilizing GMRS for public safety?" :ROFLMAO:
Yep

I've had to answer that question a number of times, for members not in my area, that GMRS is a acronym for this specific system, and that they are not using the expected GMRS frequencies.

First time I saw it in the db I was saying "Do what?"
"GMRS" is the acronym for the original four users of this system:
Garland
Mesquite
Rowlett
Sachse

Originally, Garland, Rowlett, & Sachse were on an analog Moto Type 2 system.
Even though encrypted, it was easy to discern most of the new TGIDs for these three cities, as the new talkgroup was the old, analog system, TGIDs, divided by 16.

Mesquite was on their own, separate, system, without other agencies. There was not an easy to decode conversion method for their new TGIDs on the digital system.

Is the Terrell PD talkgroup on the Kaufman County system a patch?

I believe so. "Officially" they now are on GMRS. The frequencies used on their original, stand alone, system are now used in the "Terrell" site in GMRS. Forney still has their 'stand alone' system, but their PD TGIDs are simulcast on the Kaufman system.

I suspect that the Terrell fire TGID on Kaufman's system is 'real', though I suppose that might also be patched from GMRS.
