They shouldn't need lift assistance, there should be enough people there to lift them on their own. I guess it could be to avoid a lawsuit, but I think it's because they're understaffed.

Used to live in a county where certain deputies would consistently develop "radio trouble" whenever Dispatch advised of ambulances requesting lifting assistance.I hear lots of calls to first responders for "lift assistance".
Fire call to a residence for a kitchen fire involving at least two five-gallon gas cans. Some sort of home experiment...Sheriff was later quoted by the local press as saying the owner of the residence was apparently "trying to increase the octane" of some regular unleaded.
