Just a heads up for folks in the Daytona Beach area that a drill will be taking place tomorrow. I'm not sure what radio traffic this will generate.

Press release from the airport

Daytona Beach International Airport to test disaster response readiness

Daytona Beach International Airport will test its disaster response readiness during a functional exercise from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 13. The exercise is required by the Federal Aviation Administration.

Up to 30 first responders from Volusia County Fire Rescue, the Volusia County Sheriff's Office and Emergency Medical Services will participate in the drill.

A simulated aircraft fuselage will be placed in the south pond, north of Bellevue Extension near the runway 34 approach area, to test the airport's water rescue plan. Emergency responders will begin staging at 7 a.m. at gate B25 off Bellevue Extension. Residents and businesses near the airport may hear emergency vehicle sirens and see law enforcement and fire rescue activity. Traffic on Bellevue Extension may be interrupted temporarily to allow emergency vehicles to arrive and depart.

Daytona Beach International Airport will remain open for business during the exercise.
