• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Greetings,

I'm fairly new to Unication and I have a G5. Apparently, I'm also computer illiterate because I can not find my pager codeplug to download for the Beta (.unipps). I even did a search on my computer with no luck. Yes, my pager is programmed and works correctly. Could someone please help? Thanks in advance!

Disregard, I was not exporting my file on to my computer. That did the trick.

Here is a link for a few Step-by-Step guides that I have put together for the beta test firmware. Please note that the guides represent my opinion of the functions of the new firmware and may contain errors. If errors are found or you have any additional guide requests, please send me a PM.

Excellent job on the 4 guides you provided. These should be great resources for users that need just that little bit of help getting the beta features implemented on their units.

I would like to through out one question to the group and also the Unication reps that may be monitoring this thread. That pertains to adding all those unit ids when creating an alias list. Having an option for the pps to import a text or csv file with all the uids and aliases already created so that you don't spend hours creating one at a time. My department has 94 portables, not counting mobiles. That is a lot of input. Anyone else thought of this or care to weigh in? Let me know if I missed something in the pps.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts - positive or negative.

Take care, be safe.

Question please:
with the beta software will I be able to:
1-Program Zone 1 Knob 1 to scan 3 different p25 trunking systems?
System 1 and 2 have 1 site each but system 3 has 7 sites will this still work?
It would be great to stay on 1 knob position to monitor my main 3 systems
Thanks

I believe I had 3 different sites in mine that I can think of, 8 different PD dispatch systems in one knob position and it worked fine, the hold and lockout feature is great. When it was slow I'd set it there and something would come up and I'd hold on the most interesting. It also has site hold so you can just stay on one site if you want.

  • "Trunking Free Scan feature only exists in the V1.40 Free Scan Beta version. The coming regular V1.30, 1.40, and even 1.50 will not include the free scan feature."

Why would you offer the Free scan then make it unavailable later?

Because, I believe, the V1.40 Free Scan version is a stand-alone firmware separate from the others. The future regular firmware versions noted above do not possess these "scanner" features and are merely updates to the current version 1.2. Perhaps it wouldn't be so confusing if Unication gave this beta firmware a totally unique identifier.

Hi Jordan-
I am new to the forum and thinking about purchasing a G5 and using it as my scanner for police and fire. Will I be able to get the beta software without a problem?

Thank you Railbender. I tried and it looks like I will have to purchase my G5 first. Much appreciated for the answer.

If they do it the same way as the original program everyone gets the link at the same time. So I'd imagine they are giving people a couple of weeks to sign up.
