G4 or G5 in Virginia Beach

I currently own a Whistler TRX-1 and I live in Virginia Beach VA. I am monitoring VB police and fire. I am getting a lot of distorting and missing transmissions. Thinking of getting a Unication G4 or G5 for these systems. Can you guys advise me on which would be better for my purposes? I have watched all the videos but just can't tell which one to buy. Thanks fit your help.
