Parks and Wildlife units use DPS channels very often, and they identify as PW4826, for example. I hear them frequently talking on Galveston County SO channels and they tend to communicate with the dispatcher of the county they're working in

I haven’t heard anything but CWID for over a decade on those anyhow
I listen to 159.2700 in CSQ and rarely hear anything in "Repeater" mode. Eisenhower uses it in simplex and I have yet to hear digital on it. Purley (Winnsboro) keys a CWID but no voice. Cooper Lake SP is on the 345 repeater and Parks 5 simplex. Even Game wardens in this area are either on TPWD simplex or use the county sheriff dispatch for the very little voice traffic they ever make. Bonham SP Rangers use the trusty cellphone.

To be honest, in 20 years I have rarely heard the "official" TPWD Game Warden freqs used much. They indeed are on the county Sheriff system, in most all places.

In Pflugerville heard someone on 159.270 with PL 192.8 investigating a Nissan belonging to a rental company. The base identified as "Austin." I didn't hear anything further, so I have no idea who it was.

I didn't catch the location of the officer, but the signal was very clear. If I didn't know better I'd think it was simplex.

I've heard that before. It's their Austin HQ communications center. I think the only other one is in La Porte.

The dispatcher can talk on several repeaters at once. If the end user is on one that is far away from you then you will only hear the dispatcher. DPS is the same way.

i ask the same for the rail folks, BUT, everyone has their own thing.
my wife hates that i use a scanner to listen to walmart when we are there.
but you never know when information is useful.
we went to dinner one night and and the kitchen staff told the manager there was a small fire in a fan.
i just told the wife "if i get up, just follow" then waited a bit and told her.
it was no big deal.
