Glass antenna set up

Yeah I know all install methods etc so that won't be an issue, 800mhz? Don't need it for that, just air and and 415-420mhz with some traffic on 450mhz.

On my old car I had a full size dual band amateur antenna so wondering if it will be terrible compared to that or on par

Also it is only receiving on a scanner, NO transmitting at all!

If you can find a dualband thru-glass antenna I'd go for it. If not, then a VHF glass antenna should work okay on UHF as well. A quarter-wave antenna on VHF is roughly equivalent to a quarter-wave antenna X 3 on UHF. (VHF quarter-wave is about 18 inches, a UHF quarter-wave is about 6 inches.) What will NOT work well is a UHF short antenna trying to receive decently on VHF. (Been there and and tried that so am speaking from experience.)
