Glen Ridge PD switched over to P25 on their PD Dispatch channel - 471.87500 with a NAC of 293. I'm assuming they're testing out new radios before they migrate to NJICS.

EMS still dispatching in Analog, but switching to NJICS for surrounding towns mutual aid comms.

Yes... " EMS still dispatching in Analog for in-town jobs, but switching to NJICS for surrounding towns mutual aid comms."

Not necessarily doing it to migrate to statewide interop system but I wouldn't know. Anytime I've seen a police department go to UHF p25 conventional digital it was so they could migrate to encryption. What did they need the state system for? Hamilton Township in Mercer County did that instead of going to the state-wide system.

Because EVERY town surrounding them within 10+ miles is on the system, not to mention EMS has been on NJICS for at least 6 months.

It would be highly advisable for any entity that commits to the NJICS to have a local backup plan. Especially with how overloaded the system is right now. nothing bad happening right now in the state and the system is busied out. can you imagine all the users currently on the system trying to use it when a statewide disaster occurs or even a small snow storm, a lot of unhappy campers.

There may be loading issues at some sites, but the entire system is not "busied out", that much I can assure you. Once they stop allowing inefficient FDMA usage on the system, the situation will improve. It will further improve going forward as some of the 800 MHz frequencies from the SmartZone system are migrated over to the ASTRO 25 system.

It kinda sucks actually, they had/have one of the cleanest analog systems I've ever heard. Now dispatch is 2x louder than the field radios and the treble can be painful at times.

Montclair MAU dispatch is also 50% quieter than the subscriber radios lately too, I noticed. With a huge front end gain boost for about 500ms on their portables.

I have never received Glen Ridge in Livingston - and while I thought I was hearing data on the frequency, I still do not appear to receive them even on P25.

Most likely the mountain in West Orange is blocking the signal from you.

Yes, definiteyl a problem. Sometimes I am hit or miss. I have an antenna in the attic that gets Paterson Fire, but another one on the roof that does not. I definitely love RF.

Eggggsactly! Just like I have issues receiving Morris county in the Montclair valley. The 2 Watchung mtn ranges are like an iron wall. There's a reason why Eagle Rock reservation has almost every agency in the state and beyond with that HUGE tower (+ multiple smaller towers) and a monster data/repeater building. I can hear that west orange site all the way down to the Pt Pleasant area.
