I was there about 30 mins after the tornado hit the town.
1 person was killed at the salt vapirator
The entire square was blocked off. Not at the time i got there but after a bit they blocked it off.. Court house all the windows are gone. The theater roof was gone and then caught fire, td bank was gone, the scotia bank, mbo and cibc bank windows were all blown out. Top half of a church was missing, and all the bricks just fell all over the road.
ALOT of trees are gone. Sooo many huge uprooted trees. Parts of houses missing alot of trees into cars. Only saw 1 car...well a van on its side. Some some metal siding from the salt mine stuck into the side of a tree. After about 2 hours the MCU showed up.
Orange sent both choppers, also saw 2 orange ems trucks there. Huron and bruce county ems. Middlesex, Norfolk, Oxford, Lambton, Perth, Wellington, and of course huron OPP. They had Wingham police, stratford police, waterloo regional police and Hanover police services doing road blocks all over the town.
About 6 different fire services i saw. One unit from about 2 hours away.
Every couple mins more streets were getting shut down from gas leaks. Cable wires down all over, not too many hydro lines down on the streets. Was just insane to see. OH also OPP had to kick people out of the bar downtown because it was still open and people were in there gettingn their drink on.
was cool to see that many emergency services working as 1 big unit. Now they have cranes at the salt mine and such trying to fit some stuff already. CTV news tried to sneak in and say they were givin access to enter the square but OPP sent them packin. They have security setup at all the banks in town (good thing they are all in the same spot) generators and spotlights went up around 2am.
So far no calls for looters yet. Sooo thats my little first hand "report"
