Got my PSR 800 today!

Radio toggled On
I pressed MENU until I saw -Main Menu- at top of screen.
I SCROLLED DOWN to V-Scanner
I RIGHT clicked or SELECT n got this message:
V Scanner
Default folder
(no description file found)
.......do you think it didn't copy from my PC? It said the transfer was complete n never gave n earror message........?

A reply is not needed to this post. It is a statement on the V-Scanners compiled and transfered during this activity/process.

It was intended (by me) to be a testing, comparing, and learning device. It was not intended for "enjoyable" scanner activity. The Folders contain hundreds of undeleted, non-removed, non-locked out, and unrestricted scanable objects that no one would scan for enjoyment.

The goal (for me) is more of a test (even if the results are failure). If any of the Folders "work" and other Folders are silent, compare the two types. Find the differences. Try to make the bad Folders look more like the good ones. Compare the ones that work (if any) to your own. See any differences? Make changes. Test your changes. I'm constantly making changes (of some kind) to all of my scanners. Some help, some don't. It's a moving target.

You should have a goal of your own. It might take weeks, or months, but you should strive for a single V-Scanner Folder that is completely of your own device. It will contain only your ideas based upon your own learning experiences and your scanning preferences.

Make backup copies (V-Scanners with you own Descriptions) as you proceed. When you finally get your "personal" V-scanner Folder organized as you wish...Smile and DELETE the ones I sent you as a "Success Ceremony", so to speak. I would not be offended, but rather quite pleased.

Again, this post is not scientific in any way. It is intended to be more philosophical l in nature. Therefore, as above, a reply is not needed to this post.

From before:

SCROLL DOWN (remember very early lessons?) to V-Scanner
RIGHT click or SELECT (remember very early lessons?)

(Info Interrupt): You can only scan ONE V-Scanner at once. You can only see ONE V-Scanner in this selection window. (End Info Interrupt)

Did you do the following?
END NEW INTERRUPT


Scroll up or down to find the V-Scanner you wish to scan.

NEW INTERRUPT!!!!
Select other than #000, #001, or #006!! They probably are all the same as your original!
END NEW INTERRUPT

When you see it's # (#002, #003, #004, or #005) and Description,

RIGHT click or SELECT

Wait for Progress Bar to complete (my radio beeps)

Click on MENU until you see -Main Menu-

Move caret to a point opposite Scan

Right click or SELECT

scanning begins (caret moving left to right) near top of screen.

This morning I went ahead n synched the scanner again to make sure the files loaded correctly

Radio was then toggled On

I pressed MENU until I saw Main Menu. (at top of the screen).

I then SCROLLED DOWN to V -Scanner~

I RIGHT clicked to SELECT

**here's where it gets freaky**
At this point hitting the up/down arrows does nothing .....the radio beeps, but the screen will not toggle through the folders
NOW if I go right/left on the arrows, it will toggle through file #002-#006....USING RIGHT/LEFT ARROWS
Once I stop on a particular folder. (USING RIGHT/LEFT ARROWS) I cannot select a folder by pressing up/down arrows, (it simply beeps)
Under Scan, Scan list, etc..it works fine....that is up/down to scroll n right to select......am stuck here

Let me know if I wasen't clear n I'll try to explain it further

That sounds normal.

When browsing the V-Scanner folders, the left/right keys move through whatever folders you have loaded onto the card, then you press SEL to select/load the currently-displayed folder.

The up/down keys have no function in this mode.

Yep, had to wake up (me), fire up (800), quick check, sho nuff, up/down just beeps, LOL. Left/right to pick!!!!

Press the SEL button (only choice)

I was careful n methodically followin your instructions bein careful not to deviate in case I ran into trouble
I Pressed MENU until I saw -Main Menu- (at top of the screen).
I then SCROLLED DOWN to V-Scanner
I went RIGHT/LEFT until I saw the VS I want to scan (#003)
N then I pressed the SEL button
DONE
Should it start scanning after that on it's own..or will other steps be necessary? (cause it's Not scanning, it went back to the Main Menu after I hit the Sel key!

One other step is necessary: press SEL at the main menu (the first item should be "Scan").

That is so right and so funny at the same time! I am still up at all times of the night, If I hear something in the middle of the night I am wide awake again,yes the scanner is on and a ext speaker under the pillow and yes I am not married! Well maybe to the scanner! :twisted: What a perv. I have become!!!!!!!

Bob, I received n E mail from scanner master today saying that it was a shipping error n that they were going to ship out the batteries n the USB/AC adapter......(I've been using the computer USB n alkaline batteries)

(in case you were serious, the paint is holding up, although there is a little wear/fading around the arrow buttons)

Thinking of heading out to radio shack tomorrow to pick up their 800 MHz scanner antenna, in the hopes of better reception

Yes totally serious no joke intended . If it give you problems or if you want to get the face plate go to gre's website and they will send you a new one. If you have a little wear now it will keep going. Even if you don't feel safe to change it when the time comes you will have it and you should be able to find a shop change it over.
