Are they still "zip" files. If so, the need to be "un-zipped". Gotta go out for the afternoon, but I'll check in tonight. Maybe some other forum lurker will help you with that "un-zipping", if needed?

Thanks,
Rob

L just downloaded it n copy n pasted it...by unzipping do you mean open n copy n paste file by file..?

I think the answer to that is no.

OK, I have the four "zip" files on my desktop. I "right click" on one of them and then select "properties" from the popup window (down at the bottom, on my computer). A new window pops up and shows the full name as one ending in .zip (DOT zip). This MUST be changed. You CAN NOT change it by renaming the file. You MUST unzip the file and the part after the dot (the EXTENSION) will change to the proper extension.

Click the x to close. Back to the desktop. Right click on one of the four file (on the desktop). Select open. I get a new window that says, at the far top left, "C:\Users|ROB\Desktop\CDAT_VS.005.zip" (your computer will say different).

On the 4th line down find the "Extract all files" icon/button. "extract" is the official word for "unzip", lol. Left click on this "Extract" icon. I get a new window that asks for the "Destination" for the "Extracted" files.

My computer already has the desktop as the destination. I click the "Extract" button (lower right). A new window (progress window) pops up. It took about 30 seconds to complete on my computer (lotta stuff in that file/folder). Click any x's to close windows.

Shazam! A brand new folder/file has appeared on my desktop. It has an extension of 005. Now I can copy (cut/paste?) it to the location of my choice.

Did you do all this? For all 4 files? If not, try again and report.

Thanks,
Rob

Well, let’s find out if all is OK!

Let’s start with a little housekeeping, inspection, and maintenance.

EZScan Software ---- Files (high left) ---- Open V-Scanner Folder:

Ah, there are the mysterious Virtual Scanners, lol. You might see 5. The 4 that I sent you and one of your own. You may see more (depends on what you have been up to on your own). Also, I think, a few times, that the Folder that the Program opens in is not shown (just seems like that in my memory, might be wrong). I have re-named the Description of the 4 that I sent you. The first Folder of your own may/should still be named CDAT with the original Description.

In my own Configuration, I have changed the Description of that CDAT Folder to “Fresh Pallette (original) (default)”, and the Folder has no data added. I have 2 more Folders named and described as:

CDAT_VS.001 PHOENIX FD/RESCUE 2011 (OLDER)
CDAT_VS.002 PHOENIX FD/RESCUE 2011 (LATEST)

My .002 above is my current working VS and goes back and forth between the radio and the program. I think of the other two as “dated” backups. They have bailed me out a few times as I fumbled my way through the fields of experimentation.

I would recommend (if you don’t feel comfortable with this, just ignore) ) the following housekeeping: Select ###0 (to insure you are in the CDAT Folder. Now, use the

EZScan Software ----- Files (high left) ----- Copy current data to V- Scanner Folder

Select the first “Empty” Folder (probably ###5). Then you need to

EZScan Software ---- Files (high left) ---- Open V-Scanner Folder-----

SELECT ###5 (or different depending on the above described activity). You should see the same data as you saw the last time you left the program after editing. This is also the same as the data in your CDAT Folder. At this time you may

EZScan Software ---- Files (high left) ---- Set V-Scanner Description---

Enter the new Description of your choice in the box provided----OK (when finished).

Now you can stop ignoring (if you were ignoring). Take your time. No rush at this end. Report your success, questions, problems, or anything that did not seem to fit or to match my above instructions/results. The next Chapter will involve getting these VS’s into your radio (for testing).

Thanks,
Rob

Also, you can only open one VS at once. You can therefor only edit one VS at once. Feel free to open any/all of the four VS's that I sent you. This will answer your previous question of "What's in these files". Let your curiosity be your time guide. Again no rush. When you are ready to send to the radio, you can post the same here. Maybe tomorrow? Your call.

Thanks,
Rob

Ok, I have:
0 CDAT Default folder, (which I guess is the folder that I had created)
2 CDAT_VS.002 FL./Miami #1
3 CDAT_VS.003 FL./Miami #2
4 CDAT_VS.004 FL./Miami #3
5 CDAT_VS.005 FL./Miami #4
You want me to select the default folder first?

If you want to skip all this and go right to the radio activity, let me know.

I had a chance to view the folders n I like #3!
Also, on #5.is that City of Hialeah. (HPD, HFD)?
If so then am going with 3 n 5

No, you will be copying the contents of YOUR 0/default to #5. The #5 should show EMPTY right now. If it does not show EMPTY, you will select the first file below it that is Described as EMPTY. Then continue the above instructions.

Repeat:
You select #0
You copy to #5 (or lower if not empty)
You move to, or open, #5 (or lower, depending on previous)
You re-Describe #5 (or lower, see previous) to a Description of your choice.

Oops, Yes, Highelia (spelling?)

Good Job!! Sounds good. OK, here we go (again)!!

EZScan software............ .Click on Scanner/SD Card tab (upper left)......

MAKE SURE SCANNER IS TURNED OFF

........Click on Copy Configuration to Scanner Memory/SD Card........Overwrite warning select Yes.......

On my computer I now highlight EZSCANDG (H) (you might see/highlight different)

......Click on Continue.....

This where we had the trouble before. You should be looking at a popup box labeled "Select V Scanner Folders to copy". If so, you should see 4 or 5 or 6 Folders (you will recognize them) under FIVE COLUMN HEADINGS labeled "Copy" "Del" "VS#" "Folder" and "Description".

Make sure all the little “copy” boxes are filled black, make sure all the little “delete” boxes are clear (not black). Some of those little option boxes may have a little x in them. These are put there by EZScan. Leave them alone.

Select Copy Folders.....wait for completion popup notice… Report success or failure, lol. If success, It will be time to turn on our radios, lol.

Thanks,
Rob

Ok, it's done....Neext?

Radio on
Press MENU until you see -Main Menu- at top of screen.
SCROLL DOWN (remember very early lessons?) to V-Scanner
RIGHT click or SELECT (remember very early lessons?)

(Info Interupt): You can only scan ONE V-Scanner at once. You can only see ONE V-Scanner in this selection window. (End Info Interupt)

Scroll up or down to find the V-Scanner you wish to scan. When you see it's # and Description

RIGHT click or SELECT

Wait for Progress Bar to complete (my radio beeps)

Click on MENU until you see -Main Menu-

Move caret to point opposite Scan

Right click or SELECT

scanning begins (caret moving left to right) near top of screen.

Observe/Listen
Repeat for other V-Scanners.
Report results tomorrow, lol
