I tried it with the greens connected. Then not connected but with the white wires connected. Didn't change. Then I tried it with the white wire from the GPS connected to the white from the scanner. And the green wire from the scanner to the white GPS wire. Still no GPS indication. I tried it at 4800 and 9600 baud settings

I am using a Promaster 3696 cable and I verified the same connector is used on my Uniden GPS kit installed in my vehicles. I am using a 536 in my vehicles. So I have the cable in the hamshack in the box as spare and compared it to the Promaster cable end. It's the same end

Saw you mention your using 5 volts, that pack has 3 batts? Can only see 2. Does the led on the puck light up when powered?

Looking at your pic, the reds specifically, red wire coming from my gps only connects to positive side of battery pack. Where is yours going?

I took the wrong picture. That's the regular USB connections for the 325p2. The wires for the 436 are the same, except for the 5v going to the scanner GPS port. The 5v only goes to the puck for the 436'wiring. I have 3 AA batteries in series in the holder

I had been using a 5v cell phone external battery pack until today. I ordered a project box and the battery holder on Amazon and they arrived today. Once I get it working, it will get wired for both the 325 and 436 using the alkaline batteries and an on-off switch (momentary type). Just to use to turn off and on sites by GPS location when traveling and arriving at my destination

And yes I do get the red LED on the GPS puck using the batteries. Also the 325 powers up using the external batteries with the internal batteries removed.

You must use a 5 pin, 5 wire mini USB connector. Most standard mini USB connectors have 5 pins but only 4 wires. The 5th pin (called the ID pin) and 5th wire connect between the GPS serial puck and the GPS RX ports on the 325 and the 100.

It may be difficult to find 5 pin, 5 wire cables. I have used these extension cables from Amazon And know they work (I have both the 325 and 100 scanners):

I’m not aware of any y adapters with 5 wires, but you could purchase 2 of these cables and make your own.

Hope this helps!

I didn't realize that. That would be the issue with the BCD 325 not working then. Whatever is the fifth wire probably is needed. Good catch. Ok so I know the 436 connector is correct going by others using a Promaster 3696 cable. So I still have the issue with that one. But I'll get a 5 wire cable for the 325. Thanks for the catch (update, I just ordered the cable from Amazon)

Good news with the 325P2 and the GPS puck. I received the 5 wire cable today (Amazon Prime) and I connected all the red wires together, black wires together along with the shields in both cables, then connected the yellow wire in the cable that goes to the 325 USB connector to the puck green wire. Nothing happened until I decided to go through all of the baudrate settings. 115200 turned on the GPS reading on the display on the scanner. Now that it's working on this scanner, I'll figure it out for the 436. The cable I ordered is the extension cable listed in the previous message, so I am going to attempt to add the 4 pin cable to the now working end of the 325p2 cable (like an adapter cable). I just have to be sure the 5v doesn't get fed to the 436. If that doesn't work, I will wire the 4 pin cable to the GPS. I will make diagrams and take a few pictures once I get done. Right now it's just a bunch of alligator cables. I have a box and on off switch I plan on installing it all in.

Good news about the 436. Using the green wire from the Promaster 3696 cable (this is the 4 pin square connector ended cable) and connecting that green wire that is the same as the GPS puck yellow wire, along with 4 pin cable wire and shield to the other shields and black wires, and adjusting the baudrate setting to 115200 gives me the GPS indication on the 436.

Green wire only from puck into usb cable to scanner. Black from power, black from puck and shield from puck all go to scanner ground. Thats how mine is.

It's not pretty, but it works with both the 325P2 and 436. The separate cable in front of the black box is the adapter cable. Unplugged it has the 5 pin connector that goes into the 325, and with the separate cable that's in front of the box in the picture, it goes into my 436.

Same here. The green puck wire is the only wire that goes to each scanner, except for the black and shields all tied together. The only power the batteries are supplying is to the puck. I decided not to provide power to the 325 scanner. It was drawing too much. I don't like lithium batteries and that's why I am using the battery holder vs my cell phone external battery. More than likely I will be leaving the portable GPS in my vehicle on a trip and only using it initially when I go different places out of my local area to turn on and off NCVIPER sites. Once it gets a GPS fix I'll unplug it and leave it in the vehicle. I am on one of the State of NC Regional Hazmat Response Teams, and we cover 25 counties and are backup for the rest of the state. I carry my scanner to monitor the the locals . Plus I just like to go to festivals all over the state and I usually listen to the locals when I am there.
