I suspect my 355S4 is a counterfeit from eBay. One of the signs I read about is they're not 4800 or 9600 baud.

I am going to provide the cable information here just in case Amazon quits selling them. The cable I used with the 4 pin cable that fits my 436 is a Promaster 3696, and the 5 wire cable that fits the 436 GPS port is YCSbasics part number U2GH5W2-B and it's distributed by Yourcablestore.com according to the package. Their phone number is 877-972-2253 . I bought both cables from Amazon

According to the 355S4 on EBay,

DC 4.5-5.5 V (5V nominal, 55ma (max)

I need to see how much my 436 draws when connected via usb in the car. Thinking of ditching my power pack all together. One less thing to deal with.

I read a post on here about a year or so ago (guess on the timeline) that the 436 draws 200 ma when turned on. It was part of a discussion about 2500 mah batteries charging in the scanner in 9 hours. I had written it down on the back of my manual. I wasn't part of the discussion. Just was reading it back then
