GPS location control

Perhaps this should be in another forum but I'll post here because of the system in use.

If I want to use GPS for example, with my FleetNet system.

While I have coordinates setup for each site. I don't have any under any system depts.
Is it imperative to have the GPS location in the system dept's as well?

Any time I turn on the GPS (location control) I don't hear anything. Turn it off and everything comes through.

Pretty sure departments with missing location data are treated as being located on Null Island and wont scan when using gps location control, unless you are actually close to 0,0.

Either program the location info for the departments in, or don't use location control.

If the GPS info is not in the db, or is wrong and needs adjusting, figure out the correct lat/lon and ranges that each department uses and program it in, and submit to database. Most systems have the data. Do you have a link to the system?

Yeah the system is in the database.

That's what I figured. I'm in the process of going through all of my systems and lists and making some corrections so the appropriate GPS coordinates are in the departments as well and not just the site location.

This is gonna be an ongoing thing to fix. I remember deleting that info from the department locations in alot of systems. Oops 😬.

I am very much into tweaking my lists perfectly with precise customization.

Some of the GPS info on some systems/sites/departments in the database are not good at all. If people rely on the GPS aspect of scanning they should learn about customizing the GPS locations. Their scanning would likely be so much better.

So true, and @ProScan software is an excellent tool for that. It can display programmed GPS data on map for visual reference and customization. Really handy for those looking to make location scanning as accurate as possible. With the use of ones local GIS viewer, one can really micro-manage departments.

How do you get the circle overlays? I can only have multiple squares/rectangles etc. but I don't see anywhere it says you can have multiple circles. I can only have 1 circle.

I had everything except metric units. I did the same as pictured and see no change. I'd like to be able to put multiple circles in locations if possible rather than the squares or rectangles.

The multiple circles you see in my shot represent different departments that I have programmed as such. That pic was also of a conventional system.

Trunked systems with lots of depts can get a little messy.





This is a trunked system I changed over to rectangles showing just groups/depts.
