GRE PSR-500 Firmware Startup steps

Ok after the very nice update from DonS http://forums.radioreference.com/gre-scanners/314560-psr-500-600-firmware-2-3-a.html I now remember the startup procedure to view Boot Version. Hold the PRGM key and turn on the scanner. It shows up Boot Ver/ up App Ver


The Boot Version I have 1.0 can it be upgraded to 1.4? What is the difference? Where can I download it?


And then there was the other startup procedure to turn on the scanner and during the welcome screen press the 3 key. That shows up ApplVer / DSP App Ver/ DSP Voc Ver.

The DSP App last update I got was 1.4 I assume that is current?
The DSP Voc still 1.0 never updated.

I don't know if GRE ever revealed what the difference was between Boot Loader 1.0 and 1.4. However, 1.4 came on the scene in late 2008, early 2009 and had do do with a hardware change in the PSR500/600. You could not update Boot Loader from 1.0 to 1.4 because the hardware was different. Thus GRE would issue two version of DSP update files (one for 1.0 and 1 for 1.4).

Beyond the Boot Loader difference you have the latest and last updates issued for the 500/600 installed based upon your posted versions.

It just shows you are one of us early 500/600 owners.
