Hello Everyone, Need some clarification on the Greenbrook / North Plainfield Area, What does North Plainfield Fire / EMS communicate
when dispatched to Greenbrook Do they get the tone out on Somerset County Fire / EMS and then use Fire Region 3 when responding to
Greenbrook for an EMS Call ? Who are the Paramedics that respond to Greenbrook RWJ / JFK - Hackensack or Atlantic if is RWJ what talk group do they use on the NJ-PSIC system for dispatch? Finally what County Ops Channel does Greenbrook Fire Station 33 use for Fireground communications? Thanks in advance for the assistance, any other tips/suggestions would be appreciated for that area I have family there.

Tony, is that all? Only kidding. Things have changed after the first of the year.

Greenbrook primary EMS is now Atlantic, not 50 Fire/EMS. A new single unit is now based at 33 Fire is Atlantic 20. As a practical matter in this area of the County resources are thin, very thin. Wait times for Hospital based BLS can often be 15-45 minutes or more (just sign the RMA, go on your own). That is what you get for a zero dollar contract. There is no County based BLS. Any Hospital based providers may be called. Don’t overlook a municipal paid squad, EMS 4, Bound Brook. They are taking many M/A calls. There is no standard answer here. Throughout the Region every day, fingers are being stuck in the many holes in the dam. Fire Region 3, is primary for Fire. Lastly, 33/50 both use Somerset County TAC3 simplex, rarely. I won’t get up on that soapbox. Maybe someone will chime in that knows more (although that seems less and less, re: trolls).

Atlantic BLS 4761
JFK EMS 4545, 4547
RWJ New Brunswick 4407,4409

This covers all of RWJ in the Central Region, both Somerset and New Brunswick campuses. Generally, 8A1 and 8A2 would most likely be going to North Plainfield/Green Brook if RWJ is requested. But, depending on the day and unit location, New Brunswick-based 1A1 and 1A5 can be requested. 1A1 has a new truck that is still having the radio power/programming figured out, and 1A5 can have a pool of truck selections, some of which have zero radios. Having Somerset County access only does so much when they are in the truck, except for select BLS units who have APX 7000s.

Don't forget Northwest Region 2 (4197) as Atlantic comes up on there frequently to communicate with Somerset County, which select JFK units will do as well.

Regarding North Plainfield 50, Fire Region 3 for Fire AND EMS; while primarily for fire, it's all in one place until a structure fire happens for them, Green Brook, and/or Dunellen; at which point the EMS division will move to EMS Region 1 for the duration. PS TAC 3 when in-county mutual aid comes in- Plainfield has multiple portables, so only when IC determines that they need to move to TAC is when you'll see. Green Brook may use it more frequently, but I have few encounters with structure fires in their own town.
