• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

Current flat rate for XG100M is $950 (unless its gone up again since April). Chances are if its just a botched FW job, this might be covered, however, if during the visit to TAC, they determine something else is not to spec and need repair/replacement, that can fall under the "multiple defect" part. My last 100M came back with a $1050 bill attached to it because of this.
With used brick prices running $250 to $400 at times I would just buy another one.

You can contact a local Harris dealer to see if they can do it. From what I understand, some will, some wont. There is some other members on this forum who have more information then me, that can help point you in the right direction.

The only way Harris will send you a new feature string to enable wideband is if you have a very good reason to begin with and want to use it for ham will cut it nor use it for GMRS. Also the feature string that Harris sends out to turn wideband on is encrypted as well.

Be patient. A viable solution will likely present itself here. It seems someone will find a dealer and help a bunch of people, then that source will dry up just to have another spring up a month later… it’s a cycle I’ve noticed on here since I got into Harris radios. For instance, the member here who helped me last year can no longer help others due to some change in their circumstances.

Yes, you can could call a dealer and submit proof that you operate a system that requires wideband, but I have a feeling that the winds of wideband will blow here once again…

Good luck!

Any solution yet on Wideband for Harris xg-100 mobile - mine has it disabled with feature 58 - but it works in VHF but not in UHF.
