I got a new hard drive for my Windows 11 tablet (Dell 7220) and after the new Windows 11 was installed, the RTL-SDR dongle doesn't work anymore. Coincidentally (or maybe not) a broadcast TV dongle stopped, too. I would now like to at least get the RTL-SDR working to listen to marine band (VHF-FM) audio and marine weather radio. I've tried installing drivers and have Airspy, but in the drop down for the Source, it has "Generic RTL 2832OEM(3)" but "Device No Longer Available". So somethin worked before the new drive and new Windows 11, and it isn't recognized now. If I try to reset "Source" it goes to "Source Sharp Slicer." Yeah, I know about frequencies and can run CMD commands, but all I want to do is check the weather (there's an important piece in the audio missing from the Internet document version) Any recommendations to get the RTL SDR working again?

OK. Not sure what I did, but now I have static. Telescoping antenna. I'm indoors, but a normal VHF receives just fine here.

Gain did it. For two stations, one broadcast FM, one for Marine VHF-FM. I'm using SDRSharp Airspy. I had to check "Sampling mode" = "Quadrature" to be able to move the RF Gain slider. Then I checked off all four RTL AGC; Offset Tuning; Tuner AGR and Bias-Tee boxes. I don't know if I can move RF Gain again. Broadcast FM requires checking WFM. Marine VHF requires checking NFM. I couldn't get some broadcast FM stations but the two that work have their broadcast antennas only a few miles away. I wouldn't say my current receive antenna location is excellent, but it is convenient.

The best User Guide I have found, so far, is SDRSharp Users Guide . I understand this is a lot of shared work product, and the dates of introduction of various versions makes it hard to figure out some features. Thanks for the help.

You really don't want to use rtl agc or tuner agc, it is just going g to overload your sdr dongle. Unless you have an lna (low noise amplifier) in-line between the antenna and sdr, you don't want bias-t turned on

Go here and scroll down too the big book
