I've been using SDR-Console for about a year (or better). Great piece of software, and I far prefer it's interface to that of SDR#. Always nice to have options! And no, I've never had an issue with licensing or it ceasing to work after any given amount of time.

I don't understand the focus on "upgrading" so much with people nowadays - if there's an "upgrade" for that application it's usually a big version bump which is due with the next big version, v3, due sometime this year that adds features, fixes bugs, etc. Generally there's no reason to "upgrade" to any newer release unless you're having problems with the older one which is true for any software or if a newer release adds functionality that you may find useful.

I'm not saying there are times where an update/upgrade is useful or even necessary to quash major showstoppers aka bugs, but so far in my use of SDR-Console/Radio I've yet to ever have issues or have it crash. Now, having said that, to get it to work with RTL sticks it doesn't right out of the box, you'll need to get some customized RTLSDR dll files made for it specifically from here:

http://www.aa5sh.com/?page_id=65

Been using those since I first discovered SDR-Console/Radio and again, never had an issue - I believe they're not distributed directly with the software for some licensing issue but don't quote me on that because I'm probably wrong but that other developer created them and still provides them for download.

SDR-Console/Radio does more natively than most any other SDR application I've come across yet and that's like 15 different ones and none of them come close to what it's capable of, and I don't even use it for HF stuff which is what the majority of users out there tend to use it for.

I can't say much else about it other than go download it, spend a day or two learning how it works, and go from there.

I believe I had to install a new license key at one point... Which took all of about 11 seconds to fetch from the web site. Haven't touched it since. It's really a non issue.

I'm also not crazy about the prospect that I may install SW that may have an as-yet-undisclosed purchase price. A term comes to mind, but I'm not going to "go there".
Hm, no-one else seems to be having a problem with it. Or with the poster who announced that DSD+ 1.101 was available to everyone. Or with their Airspy deliveries.

But you've complained about all three - the last one at length.

But anything Uniden does is just peachy with you. Funny how that works...

I've criticized Uniden many times as well WHEN WARRANTED (most recently a few minutes prior to reading your post). It's just that some people choose to ignore those comments because they try to pigeon-hole me into a category, and those comments contradict that effort.

I could say the same thing. I don't have any issues with the Uniden repairs, so that means nobody has any problems with them?

BTW, I was the one who posted the DSD+ announcement for the public release. There was a mention of it in another thread, but it didn't say anything about the fact it was a public release. I, like many I'm sure, thought it was another Fast Lane thread. It's ironic that when others complained about all the FL threads, *I* was the one who defended DSDPlus and said they would likely make it clear when a public release was issued. I was wrong, but I made that clear as a courtesy to those who were waiting for the new PR. I supported them just like I support Uniden - and GRE - And Whistler - and a lot of other companies.

As for the upgrade issues, I've been burned by Microsoft many times, so I'm sensitive to forced upgrades. I'm still not happy about having to abandon XP - an OS that has worked well for many years. I refuse to install the free Win10 for just that reason.

And as for the Airspy deliveries, they solved that issue. Not sure where that came from, as that was a year ago. It's like the stereotypical wife that never forgets anything you do she doesn't like. Fortunately, mine is not like that.

I know this is an older post, but I came across this project that may be of interest to those with similar questions to the OP: If you want to listen to multiple conventionally modulated (i.e. not trunked or digital) frequencies, this may be the answer: https://kpreid.github.io/shinysdr/

An interesting feature that other may find helpful is that you can route the audio to a specific stereo channel. I have even heard of some that are doing something that would allow you to route to any of the 8 in a 7.1 surround-sound system.
