Tac 3 has been my Jackelope for the past 3 weeks or so. There has been multiple instances where they switch to Tac 3 in the middle of a fire and it goes dark. Sometimes i hear it, sometimes i do not. Its on my hit counter as an active channel but sometimes it just dissapears. Sometimes i will even hear them key up and terminate command at the end but nothing in the middle?

any ideas?

Probably reception issues I noticed couple of days ago I could barely pick up D2 & D4 dispatch for HCSO but D1 & D3 & Tampa Police I can hear fine. I'm thinking reception issues.

looking at the database it is now TAC 3 "Patch". The Patch part is new to me, it wasnt there a couple months ago when i set it up. Would that mean anything?

Reception seems to be ok, I though it was too much traffic at once but the timing seems curious

No it's not a patch, most scanners would show if it were patched to something. Just an incorrect submission to the database. Even if it were it wouldn't make a difference for reception.

units responding to a fire are told by dispatch to go to tac 3 (or any other tac, depending) and whether or not it will be monitored by dispatch. the units switch over and announce their presence on the channel. if it is not being monitored, the BC assumes that responsibility. that said, there are many times where radios are minimally used during a call, so there may be nothing to hear.

Now that makes sense. It is also in line with when i hear them come and go. So there may not be much chatter but if there is, would it pop up on the "Battalion Chiefs Common"?

or

Is it just a loss?

I'm not sure what you mean by batallion chief common (is that 04-085? if so, no transmissions I know of take place there anymore. If you mean 04-086, the same applies. the BC's use tac-15 for staffing these days).
If there is any traffic you should hear it on the assigned tac channel. if it is not monitored by dispatch, you should hear traffic on the assigned tac and command talking to dispatch on the regular tac (1 or 2 depending on east or west side) as needed for resources, etc.

Hello,
New to the group. Are the freq. and group ID/s good on this database for HCSO and TPD? What is Tpa. Fire using these days?

I submitted updates for the Hillsborough County East system that Polk County Sheriff & Fire/EMS is using HCSO East System. Not sure about Tampa Police & Fire/EMS.
