Super band opening here in the London area tonight... pulling in all sorts of stuff it seems. Lots of MotoTRBO Connect Plus control channels on UHF.

Funny, nothing 6/3011 PM here in Windsor; Forts, but now 07:00 7/1/11 Chatham and Wallaceburg Fleetnet towers booming in with 396T and Comet SMA 3 'handheld' antenna. All 162 mhz weather broadcasts very loud with "heterodynes" also band enhancement noted on 440 mhz ham band as well.

Looks like the opening is to the east now... instead of the usual south western openings we get. I'm getting some stuff from over KW way quite clearly.

Another strong opening tonight. I'm getting MPSCS and Ohio MARCS on my Pro106 just sitting in my living room. Wonder what I might be able to pull in with my yagi.

Thanks... haven't seen that one before. I am picking up a crazy amount of stuff only using a rubber duck on my Pro-106 (listening to the Ford Windsor TRS now) and a TON of MotoTRBO stuff from Detroit/Windsor.

Nice shack pic.

Tonight I'm hearing lots of Fleetnet towers I don't usually pick up.
Why can't it always be this way! LOL!
Gonna see what the HF bands are doing.
Might get an opening on 10 and/or 6m

I'm not quite as succesful as you guys but I am getting Brantfords EDACS system clear enough, normally all the intermod and pagers and distance shut that out. I can barely hear Simcoe's fleetnet tower, but I wish I could snag something like Cedarwoods or Guelph Woodlawn from my 'radio room"

That map is cool. I just use the EC radar, the brighter the echos that don't move the better the conditions. They have also just died in the past hour or so.

That is a very cool map... I love how it updates... Looks like a nice band has opened up from Windsor/Sarnia thru to London.

The map will get stale from time to time. Select one of the stations and check last update times for last refresh time. It is based on 144mhz band and may or may not be indicator of 450 or 800 Mhz but usually is.

Ground clutter on radar site is a good reference also. One that you guys have not mentioned is TV DX for an indicator. Before digital TV I would run the channels with antenna pointed various directions but now that requires a rescan so I keep up with some key stations different directions that are not normally received without K factor bending signal to me.
