How often is it recommended to update the database on the homepatrol scanners? I know the database is updated every week but is it necessary to update your scanner every week?

It is up to you. if you never use the full database then no need that I see. If the area(s) that your going to be have been updated and you use the full database scanning then when it is updated is all you need. I very rarely update mine as I have the area around me in a few favorite lists so I just up date them as there is something new

If I see an update that I need then I update mine each Monday morning about 10:00 am Central time after Uniden has had the time to do their part.

This is what I would recommend, unless you have a new system coming on you are following or you are about to make a trip to an area you don't normally monitor.

Updating the database DOES NOT update your favorites lists, so it is really a matter of how you use the full database. I update it before I create any new favorites lists.

I typically update the full database just before an out of town trip. Every now and then I might get a new SD card because I get a wild hair about a new profile. As part of the new SD card preparation, I'll update the full database.

I update mine when I think of it which is typically once every two weeks.

I only scan what I have in Favorite Lists, but when I create those lists, I pull from the Sentinel DB.

So it does not automatically update FL? Then you have to go to the main database and append that info to your FL?

Correct. The SW has no way of knowing which FLs you want updated and which you do not.
