• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

When you receive a new EID it will require your computer to be connected to the Interwebz so it can call home to Moto and activate. You will also need to be running the newest CPS for the EID since mid-year, there is a different server address.

So I need my EID...do I...

1: Call Moto to request that the TRAINING VIDEO be available on my account in MOL, then wait for it...

2: Watch video by searching for it as a part number, then WAIT for a few days after viewing...

3: Search for the EID by part number, and I should see it?

This is very confusing, I might just move to iCom for my Connect Plus trunking needs. :)

Seems like everyones experience is a bit different...can I just call them and tell them my company (TV station, 450MHz) is part 90 exempt and forgo all the dumb stuff?

It depends who you are. My friend works for a HUGE statewide utility company that uses thousands of Moto radios. When he called up for his [the company's] EID, they issued him 10 that minute. He asked about watching the movie, & was told "not you guys". So it depends how much $ you spend with them.

Called Moto, was told to go to learning.motorolasolutions.com, and type PRD0001.001E into the search box...yes, there is a 1 before the E. 0 results, so they transfer me to another department that has me type the same thing into the search box, again, 0 results. They transfer me to another department, that person repeats the instructions, then tells me when he types FCC or PRD it shows up for him. Well, it doesn't show up for me, so transferred to another department.

Eventually, talked to someone with LMS (Learning Management System), the website where you need to get the FCC mandate raining course. Asked me to search repeatedly, no dice. He finally figured out that my "account" needed to have "permissions" enabled, so he enabled them, and had me log out, then back into the LMS site and repeat the search. Finally, the course was available, and asking for the permissions thing on the first operator pickup will save you 30 minutes.

Now I need to watch the video, and wait three or so days for the EID to become searchable on the MOL website. See attachment for what the eventual page displaying the search return for the video looks like, had to search for "PRD0001" to get a result.

So, I waited for 4-5 days, but the part number is still not searchable in MOL, so I made the call to them. Apparently, the wideband EID cannot be ordered or obtained online, they have to do it over the phone, so they emailed me an alert, and now it shows in the catalog. Should I enter 100 as the amount...they are free? :)

They're free. I did 10. I'm sure I can order more later.

Just logged in to take the narrowband training. MOL is telling me that my cost, and this is for a city account is $180.00. I think I will pass.

The training is free as long as you have a MOL account with the CPS. My friend works for a HUGE state wide utility company. He was told because the state had so many radios, he didn't have to waste his time with the training.

This has changed a bit.

LMS is now behind a login portal located in MOL (Drop down Menu) (Make sure pop up blocker is off). You have to request LMS access separately it's not a function of having a MOL account. You must have access to LMS to access the training. The LMS portal is separate from MOL.

Make sure you define your region when you fill out your request for LMS access as the training is based on region. I currently have no region showing and have no access to PRD0001.00E. I had to have it manually added and it's taking an additional 48 hours to propagate on the server.

I will update this as soon as I get access to the training and obtain my EID.

I am starting to get to know the folks at MOL support as I have called them more than my mother,
