• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

I bought a Motorola HT1250 LS+ , it is programmed with 925.150 and 935.500. Can someone explain to me how this is possible ? I don’t understand how this frequency is programmed on a UHF low split radio. (I admit I am not very knowledgeable)

I’m confused. If you were able to read it with the cable you have, then a new cable will not change the band of the radio.
What does the tag on the back of the radio show? Model #?
I didn’t try to read it with CPS.
I was able to “close call” it with a scanner to identify the Freq. which it was programmed with already. The radio is at home, I’ll update with info when I get off work.

That is indeed a UHF radio, so as posted above, what you were seeing was most likely a harmonic or overload-related image.

Yep, that's an R split HT1250LS+ radio tag. The 7AN is a nice touch, you will have slightly expanded signalling options over base.

My guess is you were overloading the frequency counting device by being in the same room with it.

Can you explain 7AN, as I have 2AN radios as well. Not familiar with the difference

The "7AN", as you may well know, is the last 3 of the model #. 7 is the (keypad) feature level (used to only be 5 or 6 on the portables - as per the original moto documentation, prior to many subsequent revisions), A was model revision level, and N was the model package identifier.

There are a great many threads on here regarding capabilities, and many of them show how the radios capabilities changed during it's lifespan and support by moto...to the point that the later official moto released hardware contradicted or wasn't possible according to their own literature. The 7AN HT1250LS+ that I have is 160 channel UHF + advanced signalling (QCII dec/enc + full MDC support + and some other stuff) that if you looked at the moto sales / support stuff - shouldn't exist together.

I'm not going to rehash all the stuff that happened prior to us getting them back from the factory like that, but the higher that 3rd to last numeric digit is - the more goodness is inside it.

Now that's a screenshot from one of the last DSMs released for that line, and it doesn't show 7.

Thank you, I have always enjoyed learning. I’m really enjoying learning in this Motorola world!
