All,
I am working on my next column for the "Scanner Digest Newsletter", and was looking for input from those in lower NY (Long Island, NYC, Westchester).

My current work conditions only allowed me to monitor via 'table top' scanning. In other words, back of radio telescoping antennas only.

I have a list of confirmed activity, but I was wondering if there was anything that you heard that I had missed. If you don't mind replying to this thread with your logging, I will be sure to credit you for the submission in the article.

Here is the information I have posted on the first thread of possible Sandy Frequencies on my site: http://www.w2lie.net/apps/forum/forum_viewtopic.php?11955 I have also been posting updates to my FB account for those 'on the go' http://www.facebook.com/W2LIE.net

In addition to those:
The only FEMA frequency I heard was 407.6625 P25 NAC421 (encrypted)
CAP was on 139.8750
Air National Guard was on 234.6000 AM

National InterOp Frequencies in use:
A lot of Military Traffic on 8TAC94 853.0125. (which is/was patched to VTAC13). Activity and deployment from Rockaways to Lido. Call signs Missouri IMT and Indiana IMT

More traffic on 8TAC92 - 852.0125 (pl 156.7hz)

Via Postings on Radio Reference,
Metro-21 had two new talk groups pop up.. 00-005 and 07-137 ( source: http://forums.radioreference.com/new-york-radio-discussion-forum/253162-metro-21-00-001-a.html )

Suffolk County added 7216 (source http://forums.radioreference.com/ne...-county-talk-group-monitored.html#post1855993 )

MilAir in the area: 242.4, 283.0, 121.95, 123.1 (source http://forums.radioreference.com/ne...ilitary-frequencies-nyc-area.html#post1849846 )

If you have any additional frequencies or activity you have logged and would be willing to submit into my quarterly column, please reply to this thread, PM me direct, or e-mail your info to w2lie@w2lie.net if you wish to remain anonymous.

I do need 'tips' submitted soon. My article is due by the end of this week.
Thanks for the help

IMT is Incident Management Team - specialized teams of experts in incident management. They provide assistance or relief to local and State groups in managing a large or long duration incident.
Generally civilian teams and are often employed or retired from public service. Not sure if you were assuming that out of state callsigns must have been military, or if there was a mix of IMT and military traffic.

I couldn't tell if they were military or civilian, but they weren't from around here. You could easily tell by their accents that they were from another part of the country.

They were very well structured and there transmissions were very specific, and you can tell they were well trained in operations.

I thought they might have been some sort branch of the military or a reserve.

Looks like Newsnick posted a Sandy question here: http://forums.radioreference.com/new-york-radio-discussion-forum/254244-oem-sandy-uhf-trs.html I guess it is safe to assume that DoITT UHF Tac A and C were in use as well?

I also noticed that NCPD Tac-2 (simulcast from their P25 Encrypted Talk System) was patched to the 4th/5th Admin Talk Group. The radios on the Admin group had the same radio ids that were on the Long Beach PD Talk group when it was active. It is possible that maybe LBPD is using the P25 system for Sandy Operations, and to allow their primary dispatch frequency to remain open.

Yea I believe the NCPD tac channel was used as the primary Sandy Detail channel for Nassau pd and all other agencies assisting in law enforcement activities. I know Nassau gave the State Troopers radios assigned to patrol.

Not sure whether its related to Sandy, or the expansion at Republic airport but there has been a Army Corps Of Engineers mobile command vehicle and other equipment in the back where they keep the fuel near New Highway. There's a ton of flatbeds, gasoline tankers and large mobile generators. I noticed right after the hurricane and really don't remember seeing it before the hurricane...
