I've had better luck monitoring the 40m band HWN frequency of 7.268 lsb; the QRN on 20m is just unbearable.

I would also watch the various FAX and NAVTEX services for information. NAVTEX is found commonly on 518 khz, and while you can get that on a wire antenna, loops are usually the tool of choice here....Mike

14.300, 7268, heard this morning. Did anybody catch the shrimper down in Morgan City describing the Gulf? Now that was a bona fide Cajun accent there lol

It has been in my memory bank since 4ever, and just yesterday was the first time in a very long time I heard anything on that frequency. Very faint but I heard gps coordinates given for position of storm several times

Wow, ok. I remember around Katrina, 5696 and 8892 were easy catches, but over time the signals went permanently faint. There's at least one thread here about that and I kinda gave up on them. I'll try again.

From the CO Severe Wx group.

The Voice over Internet Protocol Weather Net (VoIP-WX) will activate later today and remain up into Thursday morning. WX4NHC at the National Hurricane Center will also be active to receive ground-truth weather data from HWN and VoIP-WX Net participants. The VoIP-WX Net will activate, with expanded capabilities, on the Echolink WXtalk 7203 Conference, as well as IRLP 9219. 9550, AllStar 27154, DMR BM TG 50535, P25 TG 50535, YSF reflector 50535 (narrow mode only), and D-STAR XLX432 D (DCX432 D).

APRS, Winlink, AllStar, Hamshack Hotline, DSTAR and DMR resources that can be monitored are as follows:

APRS KC5FM
Winlink: KC5FM@winlink.org

Wiresx 43234
Allstar 28848
Hamshack Hotline 94032
D-STAR Ref052B
DMR 3199

Also, we will have the following resources connected into the net directly to provide direct DMR Brandmeister and D-STAR capabilities along with other modes. This is through the efforts of VoIP Hurricane Net Technical Coordinator, Tony Langdon-VK3JED:

IRLP 9550
AllStar 27154
DMR BM TG 50535
P25 TG 50535
YSF reflector 50535 (narrow mode only)
D-STAR XLX432 D (DCS432 D)
