Do you mean TM-271 or TM-V71?

The TM-271 has two power settings, 25 watts and 60 watts. The TM-V71 has three power settings, 5, 10, and 50 watts. The actual power output when those levels are selected can be adjusted using the transmitter adjustment procedure found in the service manuals.

The TM-271 as AK9R said has 25 and 50 watts power settings. Both are higher than the 5 watts you mentioned????

That; may be a problem as the 271A/281A may not "like" it's low power setting softpot being adjusted that far down. If the manufacturer made it that way, it's for a reason. Hams like to tinker and dick with things that often create more problems than they solve. If one has to have 5 watts, use another radio with that setting.

You are having a hard time driving your mirage amplifier because you already blew it up. You injected 25 watts into it when it takes 5 watts (I'm assuming it takes 5 watts to drive it into compression based on your desire to put 5 watts into it)!

Not hardly.i put meter on it and on low power its 5 yes 5 i said 5 watts.
And for the pima to change from what i read its gonna stay 5 watts .will let it be n use the icom 2300 i dislike as on second setting its 10 watts .
I like the jump to conclusion i blew my mirage up.
Its now hooked to the icom working ok. Not what i wanted but its what it is
