NC VIPER is the North Carolina Statewide TRS
FEDCOM are the two TG's that the state allows the FEDS to use in North Carolina

Nothing you would be hearing from the 21st State
thanks!!

Recent raid just a couple miles from me and I heard zero radio traffic on VIPER or on any of the DSHS/CBP/ICE frequencies in my scanner, not even encrypted, with the exception of air to air between CBP helo TROY and state SHP helo NORSTATE. Later both the mayor and chief of police confirmed they were not advised they would be doing enforcement activities on two raids, one in Raleigh the other in Durham.

Always do your own research!!! What I can tell you is program the CBP VHF P25 channels that are in the database into your radio and just be patient. Trust ME!!! Channels are active in the clear
Wow, interesting.
Unfortunately, all I have is a CCR for now...

@Melech17 this is 100000% true, if you don't have money to set up a digital scanner to record mode, an SDR works! Set it up to record everything and you will find things

OK,

it's officially known as the Chicago Metro NET which is a VS net of 5 Repeaters
North 163.9750
South-East 163.9750
West 162.9000
South-West 162.9250

However I have notes this is a Customs NET not ICE

You mentioned 5 repeaters, but only listed 4, do you have notes on the fifth?

This is spot on! ...I know this was a few months ago post so apologies on that but it was mentioned earlier in this thread how "nothing to listen to all enc" not true at all! there is clr but you need to search and may be on freqs. not even in DB
I have a few here I have copied...but it took me some time I admit it was not just freqs. posted or in DB, I think tuning the dial and searching and having enjoyment in the "Hunt" died somewhere years ago ..but I try! if you program a bunch of listed freqs. in and sit back you will never find anything new or exciting or can I say "Fresh" un reported and I have a few under my belt even though I am quite new to the Fed band ... Have fun in your replys back! but this is what I believe
keep searching happy monitoring. 73,s Marcy

Some of NC VIPER event talkgroups are permanently locked in encrypted mode. The head of one of the State LE agencies told me that personally. They try to use that, but FEDCOM 1 & 2 are pretty active at times on NC VIPER.
in the Viper system, I wonder what algorithm ENC uses. There are CLEAR, DES, AES and ENC.

Probably ADP. thats really the only thing left on standard LMR encryption.

State agencies on VIPER are a combination (according to DSD+ FL) of DES-OFB, AES and ADP. Federal agencies on VIPER are a combination of DES-OFB and AES, with AES being the primary choice.
