This is the first repeater I have come across that has offset Tone-In and Tone-Out values. Assuming Tx code is 88.5 PL and Rx code is 100.0 PL:

The terms in the ICOM manual are a little confusing to me. This is what I programmed in. Was curious if I have this entered correctly per the ICOM Programming Software manual (see below - I am going by the bottom line):

The proof of the pudding is in the tasting, but yes that looks correct.

RepeaterBook.com will build these files for you should you have a lot of entries.

Most ham radios do not allow for PL to be different in and out. They seem to always have the tone that you set for receive override what is set for transmit.

Not sure why, but that's the way it's always been.

At least some Icoms will allow "tone translation." My 2730A allows it just as the set for this 705 is displayed.

If you use "Tone" that only works when transmitting. If you use TSQL you can set a different receive tone as above. You can also set the TSQL to the same value if the repeater transmits tone as we as receiving it.

D31245, you can ask if this on Scan_NE as well as W1BOS is there. At least you can confirm if this is still set up that way. I've found a lot of bad information on line from almost all of the posted sources including RepeaterBook.com.

I have not encountered any of my radios not allowing different PL and or DCS tones for TX or RX. Others have told me it will not work. I then take their handheld and it works when I hand it back. In particular a friends repeater that uses PL on output and DCS for input. Even for different PL on TX and RX.

Perhaps that fixed PL for TX/RX was on older radios.
