After reviewing the instruction manual I haven't found how to clarify the USB and LSB. I have received a good LSB transmission but when I attempt to fine tune with the large knob, I lose the signal completely. I have a clarifier on one of my 11 meter sideband units. How do I clarify on this R7100?

When you're on the 11 meter frequency you want to clarify, and on LSB, press the R7100 TS push button. Using the (round) Main Dial, select the (frequency) Tuning Step you want, try 0.1 first, press TS again.

Now you can use the Main Dial to clarify.

That's great! I knew there had to be a way to do that. I'm going to go back and review the instruction manual again. It's got to be in there.

Thanks! It works great.

Review the instruction manual with caution. When I finally understood how to program the R7100, it took ten years for me to recover! :>]

Amazingly, I figured the TS button out on the R75 pretty fast... That little triangle was bugging me something awful! :^) When it's over the 1st digit, it advances the MHz. Over the 4th digit advances the "tenths". No triangle is the last 2 digits fine tuning. I'm always surprised from listening to the 40 meter Hams, how many of them are off freq and quacking away! Hey, I know it's not me! ;^)

I won't go off topic and mention that I'm in Twin PBT hell though.... <sigh> it's always something...

There is no regulation about hams having to be on a certain frequency step. What usually happens is with newbies who don't (or oldies who won't!) understand what the "RIT" (Receiver Incremental Tuning) control does. Someone in the group will be a bit off frequency, so the newbie turns his main tuning knob to make him intelligible - so when the newbie transmits, he is now off frequency too. What he should have done is tweak the "RIT" knob, which moves his receiver but not his transmitter. Eventually what happens is the whole group spreads right apart!
