Addison, Farmers Branch, Carrollton, and Coppell are still using the analog system and haven't heard of any changes.

Carrollton dispatch migrated to the new system on 7/14/2016 and is encrypted. Something encrypted is going on on the new NCIC group, however, NCIC is still operating on the old system, as is the fire department. Haven't heard the other cities yet, but have listened sparingly, and I may have them locked out. It's a sad time for listening in Carrollton.

I am still hearing the quad cities fire dispatch on the Motorola Type-II analog side as of August 13th although fire-ground operations has disappeared. The dual broadcast of police analog and P25 on the analog channels seems to have ended within the last few days. If fire-ground ops also moved to P25, it must be encrypted. The Denton County Sheriffs Office's new Motorola P-25 system appears to be far superior to the Harris in readability. Unable to monitor Carrollton any longer, I have switched to listening to Denton County P-25. The hope that Carrollton Fire will remain unencrypted is slowly fading away.

I heard the fire in Carrollton last night on EmCom Tac 3, which is on the analog system. However, I've been hearing less and less there, and imagine everything will be switched to P25 soon.

Analog Fire Channels that were changed for the new combined "EmComm" that I've noticed are.

Dispatch 52048
Fire Tac 1 52592
Fire Tac 2 52016
Fire Tac 3 51984
Fire Tac 5 26928 (on Lewisville TRS)
Fire Tac 6 26895 (on Lewisville TRS)

Some of the old fire talkgroups are still being used for city specific training and ops too.

The fire department has switched from the analog system to digital as of this week. Not sure if they are encrypted or the frequencies yet.

It now appears that they have shut down the old Motorola system. The control channel for that system is no longer on any of their channels, only signals from the new system.

Any update on the Metrocrest quad city radio system?

Greetings fellow listeners, i am posting today to see if there has been updates in regards to this system. i have been away for a while and lost track of what has been going on. i just tried
this morning to look up any "new" info on this system and the lat update was in 2016.
i can not even find the list that showed what things were encrypted and what was in the clear.
i have a Uniden scanner to monitor the system but i have not updated firmware or other items
since September 2017, you might say i got frustrated not being able to hear what i wanted to so i basically put the radio away for awhile. i know before i put my radio away there was an update frequency and channel list for this system in 2017 and it showed the "groups" that were encrypted in green. that list is no where to be found on the site. unless i am missing something... i would appreciate any and all help getting back up and running again with my monitoring hobby..

thanks in advance folks..

Stay safe and God Bless

Most of what is known is in the database.

https://www.radioreference.com/apps/db/?sid=8207

Except that virtually everything that is police is encrypted. About the only thing you'll hear in the clear is fire and public works stuff. Normally in the database, encrypted stuff is indicated with "E" or "DE" instead of "T" or "D" in the mode column.

It's difficult for me to monitor the system anymore, since I'm further away. The volume can be all over the place too, making it very annoying when I am able to hear it.

Hi Benscan,

Thank you for the input, everything "police" wise is E. i have not been able to hear Fire or anyone else on there for my city. seems pointless to secure when they rely mostly on folks hearing a situation via scanner etc. and most law abiding citizens will call in and help.
near understood the waste of tax payers money...

Oh well..
thanks again

I appreciate it...

You will need to listen to the NTECC channels below. They have a combined dispatch center and channels for Addison, Carrollton, Coppell, and Farmers Branch. The talkgroups assigned to individual cities really are not used any more.
