I was curious about the IPN updates, which do not appear. Last date is 6/24/2010. Am I required to buy a subscription through IPN? I am a premium subscriber on rr. Please advise. thank you

The IPN dispatchers probably have not posted any alerts since than. The dispatchers have to post alerts on IPN before you will see them on RR.

I did receive an email from IPN and they told me updates are time delayed but if I was a subscriber to IPN then they would come right away. Uncomfortable with that. I did get this option when I was with Scanamerica. Now I don't? thank you for your kindness

If you are not a IPN subscriber here is the delay:

Incident Type Delay
--------------------------------------
Mass Casualty None (Real Time)
Amber Alert None (Real Time)
3 Alarm Fires None (Real Time)
4 Alarm Fires None (Real Time)
5+ Alarm Fires None (Real Time)
LA Greater Alarms None (Real Time)
LA Major Emergency None (Real Time)
1 Alarm Fires 2 Hours
2 Alarm Fires 45 minutes
All others 30 minutes

But again, IPN dispatchers have to post alerts before you will see them.

Thank so much for the fast response, however let me note, that the last date I show is6/24/2010. Six, I repeat six days ago. I am not a IPN subscriber and under the allowance indicated, I should have received something newer than 6/24. Do you agree? thank you for your kindness

What county/state are you referring to?

IPN relys on volunteers to post incidents on IPN. When the volunteers post an incident on IPN than you will see it on RR. If the volunteers do not post any incidents on IPN than there will be none on RR. Those delays are after an IPN volunteer post an incident on IPN. Does this make sense?

Tell me what area you are referring to and I can look it up for you to see when our last dispatch was for that area.

IPN depends on people with scanners who have been accepted as dispatchers. There may or may not be a dispatcher in your area. There may be 2 or 3 dispatchers in your area. It is a matter of one dispatcher listening in your area and they obviously have to be monitoring when a call that meets the criteria is put out over the radio.

So there may not be a dispatcher in your area that monitors on a regular basis. The previous dispatches may have been from a dispatcher that was traveling through your area.

:: IPN :: General Information FAQ

Are you receiving IPN dispatches to a pager/email or are you just viewing them in the "Live Audio" section on this site? If you are an IPN Subscriber or IPN Dispatcher you have the option to receive a test page once or twice a day.

You can always apply to become a Dispatcher for IPN. Or just to learn more about IPN check out their website. :: IPN :: Nationwide Fire & Police Incident Notification

I used to be an IPN dispatcher, 2 years ago, however I was removed from the list because I did not make my "quota". Unfortunate because I enjoyed it, I would like to be given the chance to do it again, it was like I was being punished because it was a slow time for any worthwhile events.

It depends on the dispatchers in your area, it is volunteer based so if no one feels like sending an IPN, you won't get anything.

In my area, sometimes I get 50 plus pages a day, others days... zero.

It's not punishment. Your only required to send 3 pages a week, all 3 can be minor fender bender accidents and you can page incidents you hear off any the feeds here at RR.

Dispatches via IPN, it appears, also must be coded properly to display on the live feeds page. For my area, if the county is not selected the message will not display here on RR.
