I believe the sds100 came out in 2018. It's coming up on 4 years.
Looks like new scanners from Uniden is just wishful thinking.

It would make perfect sense that the 100 is being discontinued. Why? Because I recently bought one! It's the story of my life! In this case though, I'm really not too broken up about it, because it's way more scanner than I need anyway.

JoeBearcat mentioned that a new device where going to be released in a couple of months. Not a scanner but some other device, perhaps a remote frontpanel or bandscope display. Uniden focus on getting revenue from selling scanners so they work on firmware changes to be able to use new chips to replace obsolete ones in current scanners. Also new scanners are probably planned to be released after this summer. After that initial work on firmware have been done will it be time for bug fixes and adding new features to the current scanner lineup.

So do humans. A friend of mine used to do QC for an electronics manufacturer. They had one guy who just did rework on units that failed.

In the '70s when i was in retail electronic sales, we tested every CB, scanner, and Ham radio before the customer left the store. A good number of units were DOA, especially pre Uniden Bearcat scanners. The early 101s were particularly bad.

I won't even talk about Tennelec scanners.

ROBOTS make cold solder joints with pins not lined up.

If I made radios that I could sell for $700 that are the only ones that can receive simulcast I sure as heck wouldn't be discontinuing them anytime soon.

I really hope in the future ALL digital scanners will be made to handle simulcast but unfortunately I think they'll see it as an opportunity to elevate the flagship models above the rest, to charge more money of course.

But at the rate we're going I'll just be glad to have new scanners in the future. Whistler will probably re-release the PSR-300-500-WS1040 in 10 years as the WS1050
