Those considering the SDS100 should not hold off because of rumors of impending new radios. While its age may be nearing the 4 year mark, the thing one must consider is that if and when Uniden introduces new radios, would you really want to be the first to jump on the bandwagon, given Uniden's problematic history with getting things right the first time around with new product launches?

By this time, the SDS100 (and 200) are pretty much "tried and true" devices. There will always be something new "on the horizon". But of course, the horizon is nothing the you can really ever reach.

I was texting Joe today, he said new scanner info coming soon!
I will believe it when I see it. Jokingly, LOL!!

In fact, I just recently purchased the SDS200 finally after all of the Years that it has been out for myself as a 2021 Christmas Present to help monitor & listen to my P25 Phase II Statewide DTRS. It however, still needs lots of improvements & bug fixes with hopeful, upcoming & future Firmware Updates which is really hard to believe in or picture for the SDS line of Uniden Scanners as for there has been no Firmware Updates for them since, (4/15/2019). We are now in 2022 with no sign or rumors of any Firmware Updates for the SDS Models & now, possibly another Uniden Scanner Model coming out it sounds like? o_O

Please JoeBearcat at Uniden, do not just abandon & stop Firmware Updates, Improvements and Support on the SDS line of Uniden Scanners & then bring to Market another new Model of Uniden Scanner when you have not even begun to solve or make the well needed & necessary improvements that the Uniden SDS line of Scanners need & that your Customers of them have been patiently waiting for with no word or sign of for almost 2 Years now...

This thread and all the ones like it crack me up

As I mentioned in another thread, part of the fun of this hobby is to speculate on what may or may not be coming. Especially for old-timers like myself, who have seen so many products come and go.

JoeBearcat mentioned that a new device where going to be released in a couple of months. Not a scanner but some other device, perhaps a remote frontpanel or bandscope display. Uniden focus on getting revenue from selling scanners so they work on firmware changes to be able to use new chips to replace obsolete ones in current scanners. Also new scanners are probably planned to be released after this summer. After that initial work on firmware have been done will it be time for bug fixes and adding new features to the current scanner lineup.

Now if they did a remote head for the SDS200 the size of the TRX-2 remote head I would buy 10 of them

I think that not designing in a remote head option was the only real design flaw in the SDS200. Given the lack of room in all but the largest vehicles the size probably costs Uniden a measurable number of sales.

Rumors really don't matter anyways, cause even if a new scanner comes out, you still gotta wait a good 2-3 years before all the bugs'll be worked out.

I can absolutely confirm that the Uniden SDS100 has been discontinued. And it will continue to be discontinued for the next couple of years. Thankfully I purchased the last 2 available in person or online :sneaky:

Oh oh, I found several new ones online via some vendors. They told me you got the last 2 demo units with no internals. :)

Who would want to buy one after that fiasco, get a new radio with flashy features then boom, no more updates for years, discontinued. There was a ton of new features they could have added to the SDS series had they kept a model where people could pay for updates. This is sick.
