One thing Whistler should do in order to keep the scanning hobby interesting.... So far there is no receiver capable of D-Star and C4FM. Most of the one's out there are.. DMR, NXDN, P25 and P25 phase 2. It would be great to see a scanner with the D-STAR, Fusion, DMR and P25 conventional scanning. I know the ham operators would snatch them up in a sinch. Uniden has no plans to introduce these receivers.

Wouldn't it be something if Whistler Wendy was Betty Bearcat's daughter? 😂

I'll be surprised if Whistler ever releases an all-new non-GRE based scanner. I hope they prove me wrong but I won't hold my breath
The Whistler WX-1065 was nightmare to set-up and that menu system, OMG.
I tried after (3) hours and over (25) (Facetime Photos of the instruction manual) and "FINALLY" somewhat figured it out for a friend that has an auto body shop in New Rochelle, NY and he PURCHASED an "open" box from Amazon with their big circular RED sticker on it too.
JUNK compared to Uniden America Corporation (Bearcat) line-up of scanners.
The only good GRE America Corporation was the Radio Shack PRO-2006 that competed with the Uniden Bearcat BC-800XLT around 1987.
Remember the instruction manual told you NOT to program in the cellular phone range. OMG let's bring back those years.
Stay safe everyone.

I programmed a large trunked system using the scanner menus on a PRO-197, the older brother of the WS1065. It can be done, but it isn't easy and is very time consuming. Programming software is so much faster and easier. I use ARC500 Basic to program my PRO-106 and PRO-197 and find it is a very simple process. The WS1065 is a good scanner. Unfortunately, it cannot decode P25 Phase 2 and performs poorly on simulcast systems, as do most scanners. The GRE PSR-600, Radio Shack PRO-197, Radio Shack PRO-652, and Whistler WS1065 are all essentially the same scanner, program the same way, and use the same programming software.

I was disappointed when the TRX-100 and TRX-200 project was abandoned.

yep…. And when they signed off on the development of those models 5 years ago, their forward looking statement was:

The good news is we are dedicated to the scanner industry and we already have several other new projects on tap for the future so stay tuned!
i would think most have “tuned out” by now.

We all know what happened 4 years ago and the years to come & as a result a lot of folks' spending power isn't what it was back then...

I'd like to see SINGCARS tracking:) or at least maybe the HAVEQUICK training mode sequence tracking..... yeah yeah, I know, i know...

a boy can dream cant he? I'm not even asking for encryption cracking, just freq tracking.

TWG (The Whistler Group) building is 3 miles from me, I pass it every morning. It looks abandoned and over the years I see fewer vehicles out front on the daily, maybe three or four now. I have the TRX-1, love it but I just purchased the Uniden SDS100 as an additional scanner to change things up. I spoke to an ex-employee last year and they told me that the owner has no desire to advance the companies product line, etc. I was told quite a bit but the bottom line from this person was TWG is in hospice which may already be obvious. :)

The whole business of the announcement of a simulcast friendly model at the same time news of the sds100 inadvertently was leaked and then never coming up with the product as the months went by was a tactical mistake.

The TRX 100 and 200 name was invented by a member of radio reference and just adopted by Whistler, that designation didn't come from them.

I was one of those people sitting on the edge of my chair with a fistful of money as the months turned into a year. I would have been first in line to buy one. It would have had to be a complete new design by Whistler as I don't believe any of the leftover GRE models, however modified over the years, could fit the bill.

The company that made a scanner that worked well on simulcast systems won the race.

I think the key word here is "EX" employee. Some may know how "ex"s are.

Wow, I'm not impressed. Looks like an urban exploration candidate.
I still have two Pro-97's. Excellent scanner.
Like others said, I think encryption is gonna do the industry in. I have no business sense at all but if I were in the scanner business, I wouldn't put all the $$$ into a new product either.
And why put 600 that I won't have (FJB) into a P25 scanner when the state police are encrypted anyway? 3 surrounding counties are still analog here and I can fill a 16 channel radio with the whole area. (rural) So I use a CCR and do fine.

I haven't heard anything lately (in Years) from Whistler about any new scanners.

Please excuse my ignorance... but are they still in the scanner business?

Their former top-of-the-line scanner show "Sold Out" on their web site.

I hate to see the competition disappear from the hobby.

Thanks !
Hi ALL, John at Whistler told me that they ARE still in business, AS for Scanner stock he had nothing to say I'm trying to buy a TRX-2 mobile scanner but can only fine open box or Very over price ones, $1000 at Amazon not sure if is NEW or not normal $629.00 to $659.00 not a bad price for I can wait but the BCD 530hp looks good

He had nothing to say? Like "I dunno when we'll have more in stock" nothing to say or like "I plead the 5th" nothing to say? Or just an awkward silence?

John at whistler. Interesting name😁 Glad they are in business, especially for those who own past products.
Again, not trying to start a war, but I have asked this question of others previously and would really like to know why anyone would consider buying their products when there is this type of question as to corporate viability, not to mention the current products do not compare well either in features or pricing with competitive offerings.
Would I buy trx1/2? No but others might consider it if it was at a competitive price to the BCD160DN/260 although I would still go with the Uniden being much newer etc.
