Jim, something struck me kinda odd, in post #4 you said .."I see com port 3. I leave the box " not listed " alone.". I don't believe you can have it both ways If you see com port 3 you will not see the not listed box.If you see the not listed box I believe that no comm port is selected.

Hi Brian. You are correct. It says usb/com3. I was wrong on my post. Good catch! It very easily could be operator error. I think I am doing everything right but there is always room for error. I think it is something in the scanner. The green light on the cable blinks when I send to the scanner and the red blinks when I send from the scanner. As was suggested earlier it may be a bad cable. The same poster suggested trying winn96. I have not tried that yet. The arc96 seems to be ok. Thanks for your response.
