According to the database on here they are using DMR so any scanner that has DMR either included or as an option that you have to buy should work. The database does not indicate that they are using encryption so you should be able to monitor with a DMR-capable scanner.

I don’t know any specifics since I’m not there but just based on the database on here (linked at the end of my post here) they are using DMR. So, maybe they just fully switched over this past week or something. Therefore a scanner that gets DMR would be required.

Johnson County, Arkansas (AR) Scanner Frequencies and Radio Frequency Reference

^^ that is the database page for Johnson County, AR

I'd verify with someone there who is monitoring them that they aren't encrypted because, if they are, they won't hear anything anyway. Just throwing that out there. They may be in the clear (not encrypted) so a DMR-capable scanner will work.

@milf Do you know if they are E or not? Doesn't show in the db to be but...

Yeah, as said...they are DMR now. DMR: Digital Mobile Radio protocol. Thus the noise. You have to have a DMR-capable scanner to decode that modulation.

Check E-Bay. You can get lucky and get one of the DMR capable ones for around $300.00, but usually your gonna end up paying around $400.00 for used ones. Brand new your gonna start at $400.00 and go up to right at $600.00 plus $50/$60 for the DMR upgrades.

Now that I'm back home from Christmas vacation, I've plugged it into my scanners. It's unencrypted DMR, 158.790 MHz, color = 13, dispatch talk group is 5000, slot = 1. Submitting now to the RR database.

The handheld sibling to the WS1095 is the WS1080. The later models for those two are the WS1088 & the WS1098.

A possibly less expensive alternative (available used only) would be a GRE PSR800, RadioShack Pro-668, or RadioShack Pro-18, provided that they have been upgraded by Whistler, which adds DMR capability.

I have a WS1098 and a TRX-2 both that I need to sell, just haven't taken the time to list them in the classifieds yet; just decided to go all Uniden awhile back so I didn't have to keep up with programming of both brands...
