Maybe it's a Rollerblading beach patrol in Venice.
Seriously, Pacific Div's beach patrol was the only detail I know of that's ever tried rollerblades for transportation - plus 3- and 4-wheel ATVs,
bicycles,
SUVs, and Segways, regular black & whites, dress, bike, and running shoes, just about anything that moves on the boardwalk or through the sand to get officers through the crowds and to where they're needed in a safe hurry. Plus
Metro's "E" Platoon equestrian officers and
air units as needed, and West Traffic Division motor officers.
Anybody have the frequencies or talkgroups for the LAPD BladeRunner Units?
If the above fits what you're asking about, they typically use Pacific Division's dispatch and "simplex" tactical frequencies, and/or an available Bureau or Citywide Tac frequency whenever something goes sideways. The mounted officers have access to those frequencies plus Metropolitan Division's own three channels.
All are
conventional digital frequencies, since LAPD isn't trunked (yet) so has no talkgroups.
