It is definitely still in use. I havent heard of any open sky testing in the area or time to go live. I was listening live on IBN today with the 2 alarm apartment fire today
Listen to LVMPD ch 7 admin you'll hear the digital garble and some times on the reg patrol channels also. They have the Open Sky patched to there VHF channels but most all of LVMPD admin units like CSI are up on Open Sky. Rumor around the camp fire is testing is going well and migration to Open Sky is going forward. Which sucks big time and a waste of tax payer dollars !!!
Heard a few units today talking about change out of radios, car and portable next week, did not catch the call signsYes that is a LVMPD radio in hand dont .
I thought Harris was to upgrade the P7200's to P7300's just because, After all Harris is behind on the system start-up.Listen to LVMPD ch 7 admin you'll hear the digital garble and some times on the reg patrol channels also. Probably SWAT members at the range again talking about radio changes.Rumor has it that SWAT is going on this month and the rest of LVMPD will be up 100% by this May. That will be the end of my listening to Metro for the past 35 years plus.
just wondering if anyone has heard anything on the scanner lately (or anywhere else) about the radio change? I keep getting alot of digital garble on almost all channels especially during a code red! just wonder how long i have left to listen to metro!?! hopefully they'll figure out how much this radio system sucks and what a huge mistake there making and tank it like everyone else! (sorry just had to vent)
The fact that it cant be heard on a scanner is not only my problem but a problem for everyone that listens to them on a scanner, and there was no need for them to switch to opensky when they could have saved ALOT of money and switched the snacc which is up and running just fine! And opensky has had alot of problems everywhere its been used with some type of failure and most places its not even fully operational! If metro wanted to be private they could have gone encrypted on the snacc and used the money saved on something more useful, since we the taxpayers are paying for a radio system thats not needed. And just so its clear these are my opinions from what I have read and the research I have done, and in my opinion it sucks! And no argument just opinions, you have yours and I have mine.
Maby.... lolRun for an elected govt postion(city council, county govt, ect. . .)

Harris has learned from their past mistakes. The LV system roll out is being done rather slow and after lots of testing. I had seen LVMPD members in Laughlin using the new radios on OpenSky this summer. In the fall they where back on the old VHF system. Obviously they had problems and the deployment was rolled back.Well for 1 you can't monitor it on a scanner and 2 its failed everywhere its been used! Just google it and find out for yourself!
