Well, another day has passed, and the OP hasn't responded.

This thread, as most ham threads, has gone way off course. Now that there is 60 posts, mine will make 61, that he hasn't read, why don't we wait till he does. Instead of rehashing all of our old memories from days gone past.

What academy in Georgia did you attend? It's 11-week state training regimen plus whatever training the local agency goes through to familiarize you with the local procedures.

You don't need police training to deprive someone of their civil rights.

In 1991 the requirement for the Basic Peace Officer Mandate training was 240 hours (6 weeks) . The academy was North Central Georgia Law Enforcement Academy.
